"Thank you, Mr. Fairchild."
"So, what are your plans for the future?"
"Mr. Fairchild, I've found a job at the Everwell Traditional Therapy Clinic. I'm ready to start a new life."
"With your medical skills, you can help a lot of people working there. The Cross family held you back for too long. I know you're going to do great things from now on. If you ever need my help with anything, don't hesitate to ask."
"Thank you, Mr. Fairchild."
"Natalie, they bullied you so much. Why didn't you let me demand compensation from the Cross Group according to the contract? Given their current situation, it would have surely bankrupted them."
Charles Fairchild was still a bit disappointed that he didn't get to ruin Darren financially.
Natalie's gaze grew distant as her mind drifted back in time.
Five years ago, to pay off his gambling debts, her father had drugged her and tried to sell her to an old man.
That night, using the last of her strength, she had kicked the man in the groin and escaped. Darren was the one who saved her.
She became pregnant with Hanley from that night, and when her father found out, he beat her again. It was Darren who appeared and offered to marry her.
She thought Darren was the light that had pierced the darkness of her life, her savior. But she later discovered it was all just wishful thinking on her part.
"Five years ago, he saved me. By not going for the kill now, we can consider us even."
Throughout their five-year marriage, she had tried so hard. She tried so hard to make him love her, tried so hard for their little family to be happy. But in the end, her efforts were futile, and her love was misplaced.
"Natalie, even though you don't say it, I can feel how sad you are. You keep everything bottled up inside, and that's not good for you."
Natalie considered this. What Old Mr. Fairchild said made sense.
"Natalie, I brought these with me. How about you just force yourself to pick one? They're a bit heavy for an old man like me to carry back."
Natalie was confused. What had he brought?
Charles Fairchild then produced a stack of property deeds so high it looked like a small mountain.
He had clearly come prepared.
"Natalie, this one is a seaside villa. This is a penthouse with a rooftop garden. This one is a mansion in the scenic reserve. This is another penthouse, great location, right downtown, so shopping is convenient. Or this villa here, lots of influential people live in the neighborhood, so security is excellent. When you're living alone, security is the most important thing. Just pick one, and I'll have someone transfer the title immediately."
Natalie was dumbfounded. Each of these properties was worth a fortune, and he was offering them up as casually as if they were party favors.

Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
Payback time. Waiting for chapters 321 onwards!...
I love the sarcastic comebacks. Quite amusing!...
