The butler whispered, “The maid on duty said the young master has been perfectly behaved all afternoon. He hasn’t run off, he hasn’t gotten restless… It’s incredible.”
Terence wheeled himself closer, but Lucas didn’t even notice.
Was he really that focused?
This was the boy with the shortest attention span he knew.
Liana noticed her father and gave him a little wave.
As Terence got closer to Lucas, he saw the boy’s small brow furrowed in concentration over a math problem.
Suddenly, Lucas shot up from his seat.
“Natalie, I solved it!”
In his excitement, Lucas leaped from his chair.
The sudden movement startled both Terence and the butler.
Natalie checked Lucas’s work and smiled. “Wow, that was a really hard problem, and you got it right! Lucas, you’re amazing!”
Lucas practically preened under the praise.
It was only then that he noticed his father was there.
“Daddy, when did you get here? And how did my eraser and pen end up on you?”
When he had jumped up, the items on his desk had flown off and landed on Terence.
What a dutiful son.
“They flew over on their own. It had nothing to do with you,” Terence said drily.
Lucas grinned sheepishly. “Sorry, Daddy. I was just so excited. Daddy, look! I did all of this.”
Terence looked at the problems. He was shocked that Lucas had not only attempted them but had gotten them right. The fact that he was even willing to try was a miracle in itself.
“Lucas is truly brilliant,” Natalie said. “It seems intelligence runs in the family.”
Terence had overheard Natalie explaining advanced math problems to Liana earlier. Her logic was exceptionally clear, and her mathematical prowess was evident.
Liana signed, [Ms. Verdan, you should do it. Liana knows you can.]
“Ms. Verdan is the best!”
With both Lucas and Liana cheering her on, Natalie felt a flicker of courage. She had been trapped for so long that the thought of stepping out was terrifying.
But with their encouragement…
“Alright, I’ll give it a try.”
It had been five years since she’d last touched competitive math. Some of her knowledge was rusty; she would need to review.
“I’ll register you. If you run into any trouble, you can ask me.”
Ask him?
Natalie looked at Terence, and the butler added, “Our young master was the three-time reigning champion. He stopped competing because he ran out of rivals.”
Natalie was speechless. He was that good?

Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
Payback time. Waiting for chapters 321 onwards!...
I love the sarcastic comebacks. Quite amusing!...
