That evening,
After dinner, Natalie was planning to head home, but the two children couldn’t bear to see her go.
“Natalie, it’s dark out, and I’m really scared. Can you stay with me?” Lucas pleaded.
“Lucas, you’re afraid of the dark?” Natalie looked at the fearless boy, who seemed afraid of nothing. He clutched her hand. “To be honest, Natalie, I’m terrified of the dark. Please stay with me, okay?”
Terence interjected coolly, “And which little boy was it that snuck under someone’s window in the middle of the night, howling like a ghost, and scared them so badly they fainted and had to be sent to the hospital?”
Out of boredom one night, Lucas had wrapped himself in a white sheet and hidden under the maids’ windows, making ghostly noises that nearly scared them to death. The most timid one had to be hospitalized.
Hearing his father’s words, Lucas flushed with embarrassment.
But he stubbornly stuck to his story, feigning innocence. “Who would do something so childish? They must be brave, though. I’m not like that at all. I don’t even dare go outside when it’s dark.”
Liana watched from the side. Since there were only two kids in the house, if it wasn’t her brother, then it had to be her.
Liana quickly signed her defense.
[It wasn’t me, I can’t make any sounds. Liana is scared of ghosts. Natalie, please stay with Liana.]
Terence was speechless. Did his two children really adore Natalie this much? They were both such drama queens.
“Natalie, we’re really scared of the dark. How about you stay until we fall asleep, and then you can go?”
“Alright, I’ll stay with you until you’re both asleep.”
The two children were delighted.
Terence said, “You two, get to bed. You’ve been clinging to Ms. Verdan all day. Doesn’t she need a rest?”
“Okay then, we’ll go to sleep. Goodnight, Daddy. Goodnight, Natalie.”
“I’ll come with you,” Natalie offered.
“But… what if you think we’re annoying?”
“Not at all. You’re both adorable, and I love spending time with you.”
“That’s rare. They’re never asleep this early.”
Everyone said children should sleep early, but his two were always up late. Lucas was a handful.
Liana had trouble falling asleep. Even tucked into bed, she would stare at the ceiling for ages before drifting off. Even with Terence beside her, he could feel her anxiety.
“They were very well-behaved and easy to soothe.”
She felt a sense of fulfillment with these two children that she hadn’t experienced in years.
Every story she told was met with praise about how amazing she was and how wonderful her stories were. Their flattery was almost enough to make her head spin.
“It’s late. You should stay here for the night. The Lockwood estate has plenty of rooms.”
“No, that’s alright. I should get back.”
“Then I’ll have the driver take you home.”

Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
Payback time. Waiting for chapters 321 onwards!...
I love the sarcastic comebacks. Quite amusing!...
