Natalie had made her decision.
Although Hanley always seemed to look down on her, hearing her say she wasn't his mother anymore stirred an unexpected sadness within him.
“Natalie, how can you say that in front of the boy? Don’t you think that will hurt him?” Darren asked, his brow furrowed.
Natalie shot back, “When he slandered me in front of the entire country, did he care if I was hurt?”
Hanley was speechless.
The principal, who had been following the drama online, knew Hanley had no real injuries but didn't dare say anything.
“Lucas Lockwood and Hanley Cross, would either of you like to switch classes?”
The principal thought that separating them would be a good solution for both families. He never expected their response.
“No need.”
“No need.”
Both boys answered in unison.
“We don’t need to switch classes. We haven’t settled things yet.”
Victoria grew anxious. Normally, she would have been proud of her grandson’s fighting spirit, but his opponent was the young heir of the Lockwood family. It was better to avoid him.
“Hanley, maybe we should switch classes.”
“I don’t want to.”
Just then, a staff member approached the principal. “The representatives from the Helios Institute for Advanced Minds will be visiting our kindergarten in three days.”
The Helios Institute for Advanced Minds brought together the most brilliant minds in Aurelis, focusing on advancements in artificial intelligence.
“Members of the Institute will be here to scout for children with exceptional potential and talent for their new junior program. The Helios Institute is the most prestigious think tank in Aurelis, and being selected would be a tremendous honor.”
Hanley’s face lit up with arrogance. “You see that, Lucas? With all the training my auntie has given me, I’m going to show you what real talent looks like. The Lockwoods might be number one in wealth, but your brain is no match for mine.”
What a boast.
Terence was speechless.
“If you compete with him tomorrow, your chances of winning are slim. Are you sure you want to go to the Helios Institute?”
“Dad, no using your money-power. I have to do this myself.”
Hearing his son’s determination, Terence raised an eyebrow.
It seemed his son’s competitive spirit had been ignited.
Just then, Natalie walked in. “Lucas is actually very smart; he just hasn’t had any systematic training. With a little coaching, I believe he can get into the Helios Institute.”
Lucas’s eyes widened with excitement. “Natalie, you know about the Helios Institute too?”
When Natalie was young, she had been selected for the Institute’s junior program and spent a year there. But her father had caused constant trouble, forcing her to withdraw.
It was one of her greatest regrets. If her father hadn’t interfered, her life might have been completely different.

Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
Payback time. Waiting for chapters 321 onwards!...
I love the sarcastic comebacks. Quite amusing!...
