Caught Him Cheating My Life Restarted (Natalie) novel Chapter 96

Ever since Natalie stopped preparing her herbal remedies, she felt like the medicine was useless, having no effect at all.

Darren walked in just in time to see Victoria’s discomfort.

“Mom, are you all right? Have you been taking your medicine on time?”

“Of course I’m still taking it, it just doesn’t feel like it’s working.”

As Victoria spoke, the tightness in her chest grew worse, and her breathing became more ragged.

“Isn’t the prescription the same one Natalie used? It worked for years, why would it stop working now?”

In the past, Natalie had personally brewed Victoria's medicinal teas, even buying the herbs herself.

Thankfully, she had left the prescription behind, and the maids were following it exactly. Yet, for some reason, it wasn't having any effect.

“The prescription is the one Natalie left, but I don't know why it's not working.” Suddenly, Victoria’s eyes widened with fury. “Do you think Natalie deliberately gave us a fake prescription to try and kill me?”

Marie added sternly, “Mom, if that’s true, I won’t let her get away with it. I’ll send the prescription to other doctors right now to have it checked. And I’ll try to get Dr. Edwards to come back from Yverland to treat you.”

Darren’s face was grim.

When Natalie married into the Cross family, his mother had been paralyzed for a year. The doctors had said conservative treatment was the best they could offer.

Darren’s words made Victoria flush with embarrassment.

She didn't want to recall that humiliating time when she couldn't even control her own body.

Natalie had been her caretaker, and seeing her was a painful reminder of that past, which only made her feel worse.

Marie said with contempt, “Natalie is just that manipulative. Taking care of you with a big belly was all for show, a way to build her image and get your attention. Playing the doting daughter-in-law who cares for her paralyzed mother-in-law—it was all an act.”

“That’s right, it was an act! Otherwise, why would she leave now, knowing I still need my medicine? The prescription she left doesn't work. She must be trying to harm me.”

Darren didn’t bother arguing with them. He just said coldly, “You should take better care of your own health. Otherwise, if you end up paralyzed again, who’s going to take care of you? Marie?”
