Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 195

"This is too much. We agreed to stick together, and she just vanished."

Bianca Whitmore had changed into her regular clothes, but Vivienne Lexton was nowhere to be found. She sat by the flowerbed outside the academic building, sulking in frustration.

"Ta-da!"

A scoop of strawberry ice cream suddenly appeared in her line of sight.

Fighting a smile, Bianca snatched the cone. "Where did you run off to?"

Vivienne took a massive bite out of her own ice cream, the rich vanilla flavor bursting in her mouth. "I went to get us a treat."

Bianca kept her face stern as she took a bite. "Don't do that again. At least tell me before you wander off."

Vivienne nodded. "I know, I know. I saw everyone heading to the field to assemble. You better get going too."

Bianca still looked worried. "Are you going to be bored waiting around school all by yourself? Cyril Ravenshire is picking you up today, right? The high school division's training schedule is the same as ours. Since you have to wait anyway, why don't you come to the camp with me? I can tell the instructor. You don't even have to participate."

Vivienne glanced up at the glaring sun and instantly lost all motivation. "No thanks. I'm going to check out the Fine Arts Pavilion. I plan on joining the art club, so I want to get familiar with the space first."

"Alright, I'm off then." Bianca didn't push it. She reluctantly headed toward the field to line up.

Fifteen minutes later, Vivienne stepped into the Fine Arts Pavilion. Since everyone was at the military training camp, the entire building felt eerily empty and silent.

She bypassed the elevator and took the stairs straight to the third floor.

The entire third level was dedicated to the art club. Plaster busts were scattered around the room, and the easels were haphazardly marked with the students' names.

Vivienne trailed her fingers over them, inspecting the room with genuine interest.

Meanwhile, just outside the building, a crew of men carrying heavy tool bags stood at the entrance. The man leading them wore a baseball cap and had an entirely unremarkable face.

"Boss, we're in."

The man on the other end of the line was dead serious. "We finally pried someone's mouth open. The item is definitely in that building. Search every inch. Do not miss a single clue."

"Understood." The leader hung up and gave a hand signal. The group of twelve men dispersed like trained operatives, slipping into the building in pairs to search room by room.

Carrying a ladder on his back, the leader stepped into the elevator. The moment he pressed the button for the seventh floor, his earpiece crackled.

"Boss, someone's on the third floor."

A sharp glint flashed in the man's eyes. "I'm on my way. Don't blow our cover." He used his gloved hand to hit the button for the third floor.

Ding.

The doors slid open. His partner at the end of the hall gave a swift hand signal, and the leader, also known as the Technician, strode toward the third studio.

"Grandpa, this studio is so tiny. They took all the good spots."

His profession was high-risk. Showing his face meant he already had one foot in the grave. The only option was to silence the girl, and track down the old man on the phone later to finish the job.

A ruthless determination settled in his eyes. He shifted his weight, ready to strike.

Just then, his partner suddenly appeared at the end of the hall, frantically waving his arms in a tactical signal.

Abort. She's untouchable.

The Technician nearly choked on his own breath. He jerked to a halt, but the heavy ladder on his back pitched forward and smashed right into the glass panel of the door.

"Ah!"

The girl inside screamed.

Left with no choice, the Technician twisted the handle and pushed the door open, immediately pasting on a harmless, apologetic smile.

"Sorry, so sorry! Did I scare you? I'm the electrician the school hired to inspect the building's wiring. I saw you were on the phone, so I didn't want to interrupt."

Vivienne patted her chest, looking thoroughly spooked. She turned her innocent face back to the screen. "Grandpa, it's just a maintenance worker."

Then, she shoved the camera right back into the Technician's face.

...
