The moment Preston walked out the front doors, he slid into his red sports car and dialed Kael's number.
The city scenery outside the windows blurred past like a movie on fast-forward.
"Preston, are you on your way?" Kael's voice over the phone carried a hint of barely contained excitement.
Preston stared blankly ahead. "Driving."
"Good, hurry up! I can't wait to see who this Ravenshire mole is!"
Preston gave a noncommittal hum and hung up.

Crown Hospital.
After extending his stay by a month, Kael finally reached the day his cast was removed. Two months of humiliating bed rest had driven him absolutely insane; he was ready to kick any stray dog that crossed his path.
Thankfully, his suffocating confinement ended just before his discharge.
Three hours ago, he had received an anonymous email containing the black-market transaction logs of The Underground Casino from the past three months. The sender had requested an in-person meeting.
Preston's guess had been spot-on. The Ravenshire traitor had come knocking.
Kael was thrilled. He finally had a chance to pay the Ravenshire family back in kind.
The meeting place was a farmhouse on the outer ring of Stormhollow. By the time Kael arrived, a group of men had already been waiting inside.
A figure sat behind a folding screen, a mere silhouette that made it impossible to tell if they were male or female.
"Playing dress-up, are we?" Kael swaggered into the room, leaning heavily on his cane. "Are you the one who asked to meet?"
Once inside, he noticed an adjoining room, barely two hundred square feet, packed with burly, rugged-looking men.
Seeing Kael enter, the men's gazes sharpened, and two of them immediately stood to block the screen.
Kael wasn't the type to be easily intimidated. He crossed his legs, eyeing the silhouette behind the screen.
"Who are you? What's your angle? Spit it out. I don't have a lot of patience, so don't make me blow this place up."
The silhouette stood up, facing Kael. "A young man of formidable skill. You have quite the ruthless streak, Kael. To swallow such a massive illicit operation at your age is impressive. I wonder, though, what Council Speaker Kenyon would think if he found out?"
