Knock, knock.
Vivienne was lounging on her plush armchair scrolling through her phone when a knock sounded at her door. Assuming it was Marissa, she didn't even look up. "Come in."
The door clicked open. After a moment of complete silence with no greeting from Marissa, she finally looked up to check.
Cyril was leaning casually against the doorframe. The moonlight draped over his half-dry hair like a veil of silver silk.
Vivienne froze, then scrambled upright on the chair. "What... what are you doing here?"
Cyril slowly pushed off the frame and stepped into her room without saying a word.
"What is it?" Alarm bells instantly blared in her head, and she shrank back against the throw pillows.
He approached her closely, his gaze lowered. Beneath his deceptively gentle demeanor lay a predatory intensity.
"You were at the club last night too?"
Vivienne stretched her neck stiffly. "Nope. Don't try to accuse me without evidence."
Cyril raised a single brow. He slowly pulled The Pink Bear Hair Tie from his pocket.
"Without evidence?"
Vivienne’s face fell. Without another word, she lunged forward to snatch it. Cyril, entirely anticipating the move, effortlessly lifted his arm and dodged her grab.
He spoke in a low, measured tone. "I restored all the security footage from last night. At 10:10 PM, when you slipped through the back door, you had this hair tie on your wrist. At 12:15 AM, the police received a call about a brawl. And this exact hair tie was found right in the middle of the crime scene."
"..."
Vivienne looked up and threw her hands in the air in surrender. "Fine! I admit it. I just took advantage of the chaos to punch her once."
Cyril turned and sat gracefully on the sofa beside her, leaning his shoulders slightly as he tilted his head to look at her. "I already told you, Vivi. I restored all the footage from that night."
Her expression twisted as she glared at him.
