Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 848

On the deck, Cyril was drenched in sweat, but his face remained a blank, unreadable mask.

At the Athelvia border, Sandune Camp.

Inside the commander's office.

The man had greying temples and a blind right eye. He held a teacup in one hand, his gaze locked intensely onto the massive tactical sandbox in front of him.

Just as he was deep in thought, a knock echoed at the door.

“Reporting.”

Commander Beaufort pulled his gaze away and walked over to his desk, cup in hand. “Come in.”

Alaric Ravenshire, dressed in combat fatigues, stepped forward and snapped a respectful salute.

“Commander.”

Beaufort's expression was mild. “You're here at this hour. What's on your mind?”

Alaric nodded. “The captain just released the roster for the border-crossing mission. My name was removed. I was told this came directly from you?”

Beaufort raised an eyebrow, looking down to blow gently on his tea. “It did. The timeline is extremely tight, and higher-ups specifically requested no rookies. I can't play favorites, not even for you.”

“I asked the captain,” Alaric pressed. “They don't want rookies because they're afraid rookies won't make it back. But I ranked in the top ten during the overall prep drills. By camp standards, I'm fully qualified for deployment.”

Beaufort pinched the bridge of his nose and set his cup down. “Alaric, this mission is a bloodbath waiting to happen. You just joined the 313th Division. You need to observe and learn. Take my advice—don't rush it. Your time will come.”

Alaric stood in silence for a long moment. He finally nodded, delivered a crisp salute, and turned on his heel to leave.

The moment he stepped out of the office, Wesley Crain materialized from the shadows.
