Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 882

Serena forced a plastic smile. "There was a slight complication."

The woman scoffed. "If you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen. I warned you that his kids were impossible to deal with. What did you tell me? 'I have it under control.' If I knew you were this useless, I wouldn't have wasted my time setting you up."

Serena's smile vanished. She pulled a thick stack of cash envelopes from her designer bag. "Rowena, just help me one more time. I finally clawed my way back into Stormhollow. If I get thrown out again, I'll have nothing."

Rowena Vance looked indifferent. "It's not that I don't want to help, but high society is a small circle. Everyone knows what happened with you and the Councilman. Who's going to touch you now?"

Serena pulled back the heavy black velvet curtain and pointed to the girl standing outside. "Not me. Her."

Rowena narrowed her eyes, studying the girl closely. Her tone remained flat. "I thought you said you'd never sell your daughter."

"Desperate times call for desperate measures. Find a suitable backer for her. Once the deal is done, you'll get a massive cut."

Serena pulled out an even thicker stack of envelopes. "Consider this a down payment."

Rowena let the curtain drop. She looked at Serena with cold, dead eyes. "Think this through carefully. Men are hypocrites. They want a dirty whore in the bedroom but a pristine virgin for a wife. Once she walks through this door, her life is permanently ruined. There's no going back."

Serena shoved the envelopes into Rowena's hands with a twisted smile. "If she doesn't walk through that door, we won't have a life at all."

On the ride home, Isabella's heart hammered against her ribs. Why had her mother taken her to a place like that?

She didn't dare ask, terrified of triggering an explosion. Ever since they lost their wealth, Serena's temper was a ticking time bomb.

Once they were back in the apartment, Isabella was still trembling. Noticing her fear, Serena gently stroked her cheek, her voice dripping with poison-laced sweetness. "Isabella, you're my flesh and blood. Mommy loves you. All you have to do is trust me."

When Isabella finally locked herself in her bedroom, her hands were still shaking. Serena's fake warmth terrified her more than her screaming. Her instincts screamed that she had to do something.

Suddenly, an idea sparked. Panicking, she pulled out her phone and logged into a messaging app she hadn't touched in years.
