Everyone was moving forward; she couldn't afford to fall behind.
Finally fully recovered, Vivienne packed up Little Stray, her trusty wheelchair, four massive suitcases, and her four housekeepers, embarking on her own university journey.
Refusing to let her travel alone, Talia personally escorted her to handle the enrollment paperwork. After taking one look at the rustic dorm conditions, Talia fiercely vetoed Vivienne's request to live on campus.
Though Caspian was miles away at the 313th Division, his heart remained with the kids at home. Hearing that Talia had escorted Vivienne to Merriton City, he called before they even left the campus gates.
Talia hung up the phone and sighed helplessly. "You heard him. The patriarch says it's not safe for a girl to live alone. He insists you stay at The Nautilus Residences, saying that once Cyril gets back, he can keep an eye on you."
Vivienne rubbed her temples, then paused. "Is there news about Cyril?"
"Not yet," Talia shook her head. "But judging by your grandfather's tone, he didn't sound as panicked."
Even with Caspian's orders, Talia was still worried. After finishing at the school, she drove straight to the apartment complex with Vivienne.
The Nautilus Residences catered exclusively to Merriton City's ultra-elite. The security and amenities were flawless. Talia aggressively inspected the grounds before finally heading upstairs.
Inside the luxury penthouse, the open-concept living and dining rooms looked like a sterile showroom. The kitchen counters were spotless. Talia went from room to room, hunting for flaws with a critical eye, but she couldn't find a single thing to complain about.
As she stood in the apartment, memories flooded Vivienne's mind, bringing a bitter taste to her mouth.
The endless ocean view outside the window hadn't changed a bit, but the boys she used to eat hotpot with around that dining table were all scattered to the wind.
"Vivi."
