Cheated Once Cherished Forever: The Billionaire's Bride novel Chapter 147

Theodore had been swamped all day. If Isabella hadn't sent Wilson back with food, he likely wouldn't have made time to eat. Working at such a relentless pace was exhausting. He wasn't a machine, after all.

He had planned to rest that night, but after washing up and seeing Isabella curled up asleep, looking so soft and docile, a rush of heat coursed through him.

He lay down beside her and wrapped his arms around her from behind, feeling his desire ignite instantly. It had been days since they'd been intimate, and with a business trip that would take him away for days starting tomorrow, all he could think about was her.

His hand found hers, and he intertwined their fingers possessively. Warm kisses landed on her ear, which was her most sensitive spot.

Isabella immediately stirred awake, then relaxed as Theodore's familiar scent flooded her senses. "Theodore, you're back…"

He chuckled when he saw how adorable she was, all groggy from sleep. He rolled over and pressed his warm, solid chest against her. Feeling her arms obediently wrap around his neck, he let out a satisfied sigh, letting his weight settle onto her.

"You're heavy," she whined cutely.

Theodore's low laugh vibrated through her from where their skin touched each other, sending a scorching warmth to her heart.

He propped himself up slightly but didn't actually lighten the pressure. Instead, he buried his face in the crook of her neck, brushing his nose against her soft skin. He said huskily, "Being heavy's good. It'll keep you from running away."

Isabella couldn't help squirming and scratching lightly at his nape as his warm breath grazed her neck. Her tone was teasingly annoyed as she said, "You haven't spent proper time with me in days, and now, you're leaving tomorrow…"

She trailed off, hiding her unspoken reluctance.

Theodore paused, his kisses on her neck softening into something comforting. He brushed the stray hair from her forehead, grazing her flushed earlobe with his thumb as his voice became gentler. "I'll be back as soon as I can."

Isabella's eyes flew open, sparkling with surprise. "Really?"

"Why would I lie?" He gazed into her bright eyes, unable to resist kissing the corner of her lips. This time, the kiss wasn't restrained like before. It carried days' worth of pent-up longing, and the heat lingered.

Isabella was left whimpering and pleading in the latter part of the night. "Theodore, I can't take it anymore… Don't you have a trip tomorrow? Save some energy, will you?"

Theodore paused, pressing his forehead to her sweat-dampened temple. His heavy breaths were laced with laughter as they fanned over her ear. "What's the point of saving it? I might as well give it all to you."

He gently caressed her flushed cheek, his touch tender with satisfaction. "Besides, when I'm back from my trip, you'll have forgotten how this feels."

Too exhausted to even glare at him, Isabella turned her head. She clutched the hem of his pajamas and mumbled, "You're just being greedy…"

Before she could finish, he nipped her lip lightly, swallowing her complaints. Slowing his movements, he traced her brow with his fingertips, his voice soft and hoarse. "I know you're tired, sweetheart. One last time, alright?"

He kissed the dampness at the corner of her eyes, his actions brimming with restrained care. "I'll have Wilson come by later tomorrow. You can sleep in."

Isabella nodded blearily, her consciousness fading. Right before she drifted off, she remembered to ask, "Who's spreading rumors about someone pursuing me?"
