Cheated Once Cherished Forever: The Billionaire's Bride novel Chapter 164

Theodore carried Isabella all the way into the living room.

Everyone who had been playing cards or chatting stopped. This time, they did not dare treat Isabella as invisible like before.

When the younger family members saw Theodore, they all stood up and greeted him respectfully, "Uncle Theo."

Theodore acted as if he had not heard them. He walked in step by step, his steady footsteps thudding on the wooden floor. The sound was not loud, yet every step seemed to weigh heavily on everyone's mind.

Isabella could also feel the tension in the room. After Theodore put her down, she secretly tugged at the corner of his jacket, wanting to quietly remind him not to be too ostentatious. However, she heard his deep voice from above her head right at the next second.

"Who gave you a hard time just now?"

Isabella's body stiffened. She had not expected him to ask so directly. In front of so many people, she could not really point at anyone.

Moreover, strictly speaking, no one had actually made things difficult for her.

"No… No one…" she mumbled.

The grip on her waist suddenly tightened. "Tell the truth."

"Really, no one…" Isabella's voice was muffled. With so many people watching, how could she dare to say anything?

Their conversation was not quiet. Since no one was speaking in the room, everyone naturally heard them clearly. A few of the elders were still collected, but the younger members panicked when they saw Theodore's serious appearance.

They buried their heads one by one, not daring to even breathe too loudly.

At this moment, a charming voice rang out. "Theodore, look at what you're saying. Are you suspecting we picked on Isabella?"

Theodore said firmly, "Amelia, Isabella is my wife now. I've already made it very clear. From now on, she's the lady of the Sinclair family. Since that's the case, take this opportunity today and hand over the keys to the residence to Isabella."

The smile on Amelia's face froze. Her hand holding the cup also paused slightly. However, she forced a smile.

"Theodore, well… I've always been in charge of the keys to the residence. Isabella has just married into our family and is not familiar with family affairs yet. Giving them to her like this… I'm afraid it's not quite suitable, is it?"

As Amelia spoke, she secretly glanced at the other elders. She had long ago established good relationships with these people in private. It would not be that easy for Theodore to take the keys away.

At this moment, one of them spoke up.

Her fingertips gently tugged at the corner of his jacket again.

Theodore seemed to sense her uneasiness. He lowered his eyes to look at her, and the coldness in his eyes instantly faded a little.

Then, he turned back to look at Amelia, and he returned to the main topic. "You said just now that Isabella is not familiar with family affairs?"

Amelia's knuckles turned white from her fingers gripping the cup. She braced herself and nodded. "Yes… After all, she just joined the family. She doesn't know many of the rules yet."

"That's even more reason she should take the keys." Theodore's tone was flat, yet it left Amelia speechless. "To become familiar with family affairs, shouldn't she start from every small matter? As for the Thanksgiving banquet…"

He paused, his gaze sweeping over everyone. "I'll have people work with Isabella to plan it. There's no need to trouble you."

His words effectively shut Amelia down, leaving her no room to maneuver. It also firmly put the relatives who had sided with her in their place.

Amelia could not hold her smile anymore. The cup shook in her hand, and the coffee almost spilled out. She wanted to find another excuse, but she saw Theodore lift his wrist and glance at the time. The impatience in that movement was obvious.

"The memorial can begin now."
