Isabella felt sick with disgust at Nathan. She was glad she'd discovered his true nature before their engagement. She'd almost been stuck committing to a total psychopath.
Just then, her phone rang. She glanced at the screen and saw Alexander calling. A small hope sparked within her, and she quickly tried to grab the phone, but Nathan kicked it out of her hand.
The ringing stopped, but a second later the phone rang again. All she could do was hope Alexander would realize something was wrong, but that seemed unlikely.
"Who is it? Isabella, which random man is calling you now? God dammit, I should've dealt with you a long time ago! Stop acting like you're so pure in front of me!" he snarled.
Isabella's clothes were torn off, leaving her in only her undergarments. A coldness washed over her. Her heart froze, and her eyes went red with fury.
"Nathan! I'll kill you!" she screamed, her voice hoarse.
But it only stirred Nathan's excitement further. She hated him with everything she had, but all she could do was pray at that moment. If anyone would come to save her now, she'd do anything for them.
All of a sudden, the private room door flew open from a kick.
Isabella's despair turned into hope. She tried to turn to see who'd come, just as the weight pinning her down was yanked back with tremendous force. She saw Nathan thrown against the wall like a rag doll.
Someone draped a jacket over her shoulders. A familiar scent hit her, and she looked up to see Theodore's face, tense with anger and worry.
He pulled her into a warm, protective embrace. His voice was raw as he muttered, "I'm sorry… I'm sorry… I'm sorry…"
He kept apologizing, and she didn't understand why. It wasn't like he'd done anything wrong. The only one who had to apologize was that bastard, Nathan! No, she didn't need his apologies.
She clung to Theodore's shirt and said, her voice trembling, "I'll kill him! I'll kill him myself!"
Theodore held her tight, keeping her from struggling, tucking her against his chest. He murmured into her ear, calming her, "I know. I know. Leave it to me, Isabella. Don't be afraid. I'm here. I'll always be here…"
He stroked her hair and answered softly, "My friends and I were eating at the restaurant too. We heard there was trouble in that private room and went to check. I didn't expect to find you."
Her fear still lingered. She couldn't imagine what would've happened if Theodore hadn't arrived. She dared not think about it.
"I'm sorry I didn't come sooner…" he apologized again.
He'd already apologized many times today.
Isabella wrapped her arms around his waist and shook her head slightly.
"No, I should be the one thanking you," she said, her voice muffled. "Before you came in, I kept thinking if anyone showed up and rescued me, I'd do anything for them."
