Cheated Once Cherished Forever: The Billionaire's Bride novel Chapter 68

Giselle looked mockingly at Isabella just like she used to, as if Isabella were the dirt beneath her shoe.

"Are you really stupid or just pretending to be a fool, Isabella? Aren't you aware of what your man did to Nathan? I really didn't expect you to find yourself that kind of man! You really don't fear death, do you?"

Isabella frowned heavily, confusion written all over her face. She didn't understand exactly what Giselle was implying.

"Speak clearly, Giselle. What kind of man have I found myself? If you dare slander my husband, I'll tear you a new one!"

"I'm going to die of laughter!"

Giselle's raised voice caused Chloe to glance worriedly at Isabella.

Giselle then asked, "Do I even need to slander him, Isabella? Your husband beat Nathan up so badly that he lost the use of one arm and his face was ruined. He ended up hideous and miserable. In the end, he was even abandoned in another country!"

Isabella froze.

Giselle continued, "The Bennett family is rather well-known in Solara, Isabella, yet even they didn't have the guts to make a big deal out of this situation. All they could do was suffer the loss in silence! Tell me—how could your husband possibly be a decent man? I'm so glad our family cut ties with you early! Otherwise, you would've brought us trouble sooner or later!"

Inwardly, Isabella went over what she had been told. So, Theodore had beaten up Nathan very badly that day. How bad could it have been? It was a pity she hadn't been there to see it.

She asked coldly, "So, you've met Nathan, then? How else would you know this?"

Giselle assumed she had successfully threatened Isabella and said smugly, "Of course, I've met him! He was the one who told me! Moreover, he handed me some evidence on the matter. How else would I have the nerve to threaten you?"

Isabella glared frostily at Giselle and said solemnly, "Since you already know what sort of man my husband is, Giselle, how dare you threaten me? Aren't you afraid of becoming the next Nathan?"

Giselle was momentarily stunned at this. Isabella's glare and tone frightened her, but she quickly recovered and yelled defiantly, "Why should I be afraid of you? Nathan is too scared to speak up only because the Bennett family needs to continue operating their vast business within Solara!

"Businessmen are always afraid of lawless ruffians like your husband, after all! But our family can't care less about that! Once we get the money, my parents and I will go abroad! What can you even do to us once we've left the country?"

"What a fool!" Isabella snapped.

Giselle's face instantly turned red with rage. She had come here without much thought, but she was starting to panic a little in the face of Isabella's attitude.

Isabella continued with a sharp gaze, "Don't you think Nathan is taking advantage of you, Giselle? If he really had evidence on hand, why didn't he present it himself? Clearly, it's because he doesn't have the guts!

"Do you really think Nathan is genuinely helping you? He just wants to use you to mess with me and vent his own resentment for the beating he suffered! Even if you end up failing, it'll have nothing to do with him!"

Isabella's words were like a flurry of heavy blows that left Giselle's head spinning. Her smugness had long since vanished, leaving behind only unconcealable panic and a subtle trace of uncertainty.

Seeing her like this, Isabella added coldly, "Don't ever appear before me again, Giselle Moore! I've long severed ties with your family! As for the evidence you have on hand, I advise you to either destroy it or bury it away. Otherwise, if anything happens to my husband in the future, I'll definitely pin the blame on you!"

She then turned and left, leaving Giselle frozen in place with various emotions flashing across her face.
