Amelia said, "Why, you—"
Isabella's attitude infuriated her. But when she lifted her eyes and noticed that Theodore had emerged from the kitchen with a teapot, she quickly changed her tone of voice.
She said, "Ms. Moore, I see you're speaking and acting in such powerful ways now. I heard that you even caused quite a scene when you went shopping at Vellichor previously. I heard that you demanded to get an outfit co-designed by Ms. Schmidt and Glamoore."
The sudden change in topic gave Isabella a suspicion that Amelia was up to no good. She probably just wanted Theodore to know that she was actually a superficial woman.
Isabella scoffed to herself silently, then replied openly, "That's right. How did you know about that, Amelia?"
Amelia smiled, her eyes darting toward Theodore for a short moment before she answered casually, "Our social circle isn't that big. Plus, the scene you caused was quite attention-grabbing.
"From what I heard, not only did you make things difficult for the staff at the store, but you even called Ms. Schmidt, asking her to bring one of the sets to you personally. Not everyone gets to be treated like this. Y'know, I'd have to wait a month to get something co-designed by Glamoore!"
Amelia's words overflowed with jealousy. Through everything she just said, she implied that Isabella was ostentatious and loved to be in the limelight.
Isabella, however, did not respond to Amelia's remark. Instead, she picked up a cup of the freshly-brewed tea from the table and handed it to Theodore.
In a heartwarming voice, she said, "Coincidentally, Ms. Schmidt and I are acquainted. If you're interested in getting an outfit, feel free to let me know. I can speak with Ms. Schmidt on your behalf and get her to make an outfit for you next time."
Amelia was rendered speechless. She questioned skeptically, "You're acquainted with Ms. Schmidt? Or was it Theodore who introduced you to her?"
It was only at this moment that Theodore spoke up. He gently tapped his finger on the edge of the cup, chiming in at just the right moment, "I don't know what Vellichor is, nor do I know who Ms. Schmidt is."
Absolutely no sense of bias could be heard in his voice.
How could a man like him be familiar with a brand like Vellichor? Nevertheless, he added, "But if Isabella likes the brand, she can very well pick out more of their clothes and bring them home."
Amelia's initial plan was for Theodore to get a good look at how snobbish Isabella was. She wanted him to know that she had to have ulterior motives when it came to getting together with Alexander and later marrying Theodore.
The moment she said that, a frigid tension filled the living room. Instead of leaning back on the couch, Isabella straightened her back slightly. The teaspoon in her hand clinked lightly against the wall of her teacup, sending a crisp ping through the air.
She lifted her eyes and looked toward Amelia, the smile fading from her face. Nevertheless, her voice remained calm. "That's an interesting comment, Amelia."
She paused, fixing her eyes on the tense expression on Amelia's face. She continued in a clear voice, "Amelia, I was young and immature when I dated Alexander back then. I was blinded and not in my right mind, so I ended up misjudging his character.
"But you can be at ease now that I've married Theodore. He's willing to dote on me, and this is a matter between us as husband and wife. In fact, I think you should probably show more care toward your son, Amelia."
A ball of rage burned within Amelia after Isabella's series of attacks on her. But when she opened her mouth to speak, she noticed Theodore setting his teacup down on the table with an icy gleam in his eyes.
"Amelia, since Isabella and I are now married, I hope that you'll stop bringing up matters of the past. We'll give dinner a pass. Let's go, Isabella," Theodore said.
Right after saying that, he rose to his feet, took Isabella by the hand, and led her straight to the door.
