Cheated Once Cherished Forever: The Billionaire's Bride novel Chapter 91

After dinner, Isabella worked on her drawings while Theodore worked in his study as usual.

In the middle of the night, when Isabella was half-asleep, Theodore got into bed. He brought with him a coolness that came with the fall weather. Isabella thought to herself about how quickly time was flying by.

Now that it was fall, they only had two-thirds of their time together remaining before their agreement came to an end.

Theodore wrapped his arms around her from behind, allowing her to drift back into sleep. Previously, she developed severe insomnia due to an extreme lack of a sense of security.

However, as long as Theodore was by her side, she would be able to sleep until the day broke. Even her dreams would be pleasant.

As it happened, it was the weekend today, which meant that Isabella and Theodore did not have to go to work. Nonetheless, the couple had agreed the previous day to visit Queenie at the hospital today.

Though, Isabella had no idea what Queenie had come down with. Regardless, she didn't care.

That being said, since she was tagging along with Theodore, it was still necessary for her to maintain the necessary pleasantries. For example, she should prepare a fruit basket or a bouquet of flowers.

She tilted her head as she asked Theodore, "Do you know if Ms. Klein prefers flowers or fruits?"

Theodore, who was driving, answered, "You don't have to prepare anything."

Isabella questioned him, "Why not? It's not nice to visit a patient at the hospital empty-handed, is it?"

He replied without giving it much thought, "It's fine. Queenie won't mind."

She nodded. "Is that so? Perhaps she wouldn't mind because it's you. She might not respond in the same way to me."

He paused, turning to take a brief glance at her. Then, he suggested, "Let's get a bouquet of flowers, then."

Isabella watched him without agreeing. Instead, she asked, "Theodore, may I know what your relationship with Ms. Klein is like? Or, could you share with me what you've been through together?"

Theodore looked forward once again, falling silent for a few seconds. Then, he answered in a dull voice, "Bella, I'll share with you in the future when the time is right."

Isabella stared blankly at his side profile for a while, then forced a smile on her face. Then, she pretended to respond in a relaxed manner, "Alright then."

She could tell that he was unwilling to share more with her.

Between the three of them, she was always like an outsider. Since this was the case, why should she put herself through that? All she had to do was hold herself back and pretend for a bit.

A year would fly by in a jiffy. If she invested too much of her feelings into this, she would be the only one ending up hurt.

She leaned forward to pick up the flowers but did not head for the door. Instead, she took a couple of steps toward the trash can in the corner of the ward. "It's a pity to throw them away, though. After all, Theodore told me to get these specifically."

"Why, you—"

Queenie sat up suddenly, heaving slightly. "Theodore asked you to buy these?"

Isabella paid no further attention to her. She raised her hand and chucked the bouquet of flowers into the trash. The sound of its plastic packaging scraping against the side of the trash can sounded exceptionally clear and crisp in the quiet ward.

She dusted her hands off, though that was quite unnecessary. When she turned around, she happened to notice Theodore standing at the door with a frown on his face. He was staring at the flowers in the bin.

How much did he overhear?

Isabella met his gaze and explained casually, "Ms. Klein is allergic to pollen, so I had no choice but to throw the flowers away."

Queenie immediately spoke up in a miserable tone. "I didn't mean to do that, Theodore. I was just suddenly reminded of my allergies…"

Theodore fixed his eyes on Isabella, disregarding Queenie. He gulped, and just as he was about to speak, Isabella interjected, "I'll leave you both to chat. I'll go and get a bottle of water from the convenience store downstairs."

Upon saying that, she walked right past Theodore without waiting for his response or showing any hint of hesitation.
