Part 10: Venus‘ Attachment
Bella
She could see the difference in Parker nearly instantly. He’d pulled away from her, gotten up off the bed and stepped away from her. It couldn’t be a nice feeling to be rejected, even as politely as she had tried to make it for him. Laid out the reasons why that he would see were actually valid even and that was essentially what she’d just done, and she knew it She’d basically just told him he could be Whit’s dad, but they’d never be a family.
It was kind of making her uncomfortable inside her chest to see him like that. She didn’t want to hurt him, but that offer to have her inside his suite, it had made her realise something, that if she took it up she was essentially telling him they were going to work out and even Whit would think that. It wasn’t right to do that to him or to Whit, when she didn’t even know what her wolf would want.
Then to have him offer to vet any Mate her wolf got, that had Freya’s words echoing inside her mind ‘Even a Mate can betray you, what if they did scent out a Mate, and he was vetted and seemed loving and caring, but then found out what she was and succumbed to the knowledge of being able to use her, like so many other Citron Wolves were, and her fate turned out just like all of theirs did?
It wasn’t a nice thought, and no one knew if even what seemed like a loving mate would in the end become different once they knew what she and her beast truly were. Parker wasn’t like that and she knew it. He’d known and seen it with his own eyes for eight years, but let her go, not used her for that. Now it was confirmed to her by Freya what she was, and he still didn’t want anything to happen to her. Would now, at her request, back off and allow her to find a Mate and move away.
She stood in her room staring out the window an hour later. She was restless as she pondered those very worrying thoughts. She also had a headache, and not even analgesia was working to get rid of it. She was thinking about everything now, what Freya had told her.
That Freya had been the one to gift Parker a Mate herself, and that Selena had been unhappy about what she’d done… That Freya had punished Parker herself, tested him, and he was on his way to being like Aston…
r
That she’d been told to stay here or go back to the Hollowed Moon, she really thought about that, the two packs, not the Alphas. They were both large and had impressive warrior numbers, more so than most packs would have. Aston was an all–warrior pack. Parker’s pack had six packs, and this, his main pack was she knew, smack in the middle or close enough to it, from all the subsidiary packs.
They surrounded it, could be and was considered to be an added layer of defences to this very pack, so if someone tried to come in and take her, or did snatch her, they’d have to get out of not only this pack but past the five that surrounded it as well, not something she thought would be easy, and then he had affiliated packs out past that. So she was, as he’d said, safe here.
Whit was also going to want to be the heir to this pack. It was just a matter of time before he told Parker that. And the boy was announced to the pack officially as the heir. Parker had already told her it was a

So it was logical that she would also remain here, so Whit could be given his actual title, and she also needed to be here until the triplets were born. That was a good three to six months. She’d have to look at Bridgit’s medical records to see how long she carried her pups for, though triplets would likely come a bit early.
There were actually many reasons to stay here inside this pack, but knowing what Parker wanted, was it fair to him for her to be here and have him see her move on with others. It was bound to happen, she had needs. What if she was gifted a mate right here inside this pack? That would likely also hurt him.
He’d told her on many occasions that he loved her, and if she stayed here, how much more would that hurt him? She felt bad right this minute thinking about that. She didn’t know what to do and was very confused. She’d never had to deal with thoughts or feelings like this before.
Never once had to feel guilty about anything, not even Whit not being a part of this pack or Parker’s life, it had just never concerned her because she’d not had emotions. She sighed to herself as she realised just. how much Freya being bound to her had affected her life.
Something which Freya had now told
Was her own, told her it was up to her to protect her own wolf’s heart. Because she would seek out love, crave it essentially, was Bella’s understanding of those words.
Her beast was also going to emerge, knowing she and Parker had been mated to each other previously, that they had a son together and that not once in the entire time they’d been bound to each other had he or Vex hurt her.
Freya stated her wolf had seen everything, felt the pain of being severed from him even… that thought stopped her, as she saw him walking this way with Whit and Milly. Her wolf had howled in pain inside her own mind, that echo had been her own beast. She’d been in pain at them, not only rejecting each other but also when she’d rejected the pack and Parker as her Alpha.

Bella had no idea if her wolf could see or feel what was going on right this very minute or not, and she needed to reach her to discuss it with her. She was again prowling the room when her attention was drawn to the window once more, and she looked at Parker as he was about to walk out of sight around the building, heading for she knew the hospital’s front doors.
