Parker

He didn’t understand what was going on with Belladonna, she didn’t even seem to care about keeping him from his child; his heir. She was, as far as he could tell, fully amused over there, just sitting in that chair, sipping on her coffee, like there was nothing to be concerned about; With from what he could discern, not a single iota of care in the world, for what she had done, keeping his own child from him for nine bloody years.
He’d never have accepted her rejection if he’d known there was a pup between them. He would have rejected Carina and sent her back to where she’d come from. Happily given up his Goddess–Gifted for this woman sitting before him.
Who he now knew to also be the mother of his child, something he had wanted; asked her about even. He would have spent however long it would have taken, days, weeks, months till the pup was born, sitting down talking to her. Trying to convince her they worked well together, he would likely have told her that he loved her, everything just to convince her to stay with him, stay by his side always, to raise their pup and heir together.
That pup’s clause in their mating alliance, which he’d brought up to her, to remind her there was one, only amused her even more. He couldn’t recall the specific wording of it either, it was too long ago since he’d seen it. Neither could Kane. That was annoying for him right at that minute.
But by her reaction alone, the amusement he was seeing, the way she recited it to him, it was likely she had actually checked that herself; when she’d found out she was pregnant, and they were the exact words
so she knew she was fine.
But then to tell him he knew, where the hell did she get that from? She had never, not once contacted him since the day she’d left him and the pack. She’d never told him they had a pup. He’d have hunted her down
relentlessly. Been in the delivery room for when their son was born.
A son, she’d stated, though she’d not given up the boy’s name, he didn’t know if that was on purpose or if it
was just because she didn’t think she had to tell him. He didn’t like her telling him repeatedly that he had
no claim on his own child, and it was starting to royally tick him off.
He wanted to meet his son and heir, which he’d apparently had to the woman he’d loved, but had left him
the moment she could. He understood why she’d left, but she’d just agreed he wasn’t a brute, though
looking back on his mate bond with her, he could have been so much better to her.
Should have been, he now knew, likely should have just told her honestly how he felt at the time. Bit the damned bullet and seen what he got in return. Ignored that she was dismissive and indifferent to him all the time, he should have opened up himself to seeing if they could have truly worked out.
He’d never have brought Carina home if she’d loved him or thought she could. He would simply have told Carina he had a Mate that he loved and rejected her on the spot. Tried to be nice about it, but he’d never
have left Belladonna if she loved him.

Then to hear that Aston wasn’t even willing to help him, wouldn’t call his son to come to this office so he could meet him. He didn’t understand that either. The man stated it would be difficult, but how was it difficult? The boy was right here inside this very pack.
He watched Belladonna get her phone out to call Alpha Gretta of the Wolfen Council. That had shocked him completely. He knew there was an Alpha Gretta on the council, but he also knew two other Alphas. named Gretta. It wasn’t an uncommon name.
She’d worked for the Wolfen Council; that shocked him, but even as he thought about those words and her interview with the press, she’d not said where she was, just working at a university hospital, likely within an Alpha College, he now realised. Likely the one run by Alpha Gretta, it had not been the college he had attended. No wonder she’d not said where she’d worked.
He stood up, he could find his son within the pack on his own, all he had to do was walk about and let Vex scent the boy out. All he had to do was find the orphanage in reality, that as where they lived. “I’ll find him myself then.” He stated and strode for the door. If they weren’t going to help him, he’d do it himself. No
one had the right to keep an Alpha from his heir.
He found a hand curled around his wrist as he walked passed Belladonna, and he was yanked to a stop.
He knew it wasn’t Belladonna, but her wolf, Freya, he could tell by the strength of the grip. Though it was
Belladonna that looked up at him, Freya never showed herself to him, still wouldn’t even in this situation, it
seemed.
“Don’t you dare hunt my boy down and make him feel unloved and unwanted by his father. You were the
one to reject him as your heir.” Her words were filled with anger.
He stared right at her, more than shocked and not just by her ridiculous words, but for the first time ever he was hearing anger in her. He’d never seen that in the woman before. She didn’t know how to raise her
voice to anyone.
