Belladonna
For the past six months, she’d not interfered in the growing bond between Whit and Parker, and she saw that Whit was now much more curious about the man and his pack. He’d seen Vex on the surface, had met him officially now, and Parker had gotten permission from Aston to shift so that Whit could see his beast.
Vex was a large black wolf with a white halo band around his chest and over his shoulders and a white muzzle, and had a smattering of white fur along his cheeks. He also didn’t have the usual brilliant light green eyes of a wolf but were grey in colour.
Whit had stared at his father’s wolf, who was taller than he was standing up, had really looked at him and when Parker had shifted back he’d asked him about his wolf’s eyes. “Hmm, I don’t know, they were green when I was 14 and got my wolf. Turned grey when I was 15. No one knows why.”
She’d not even known he was an early shifter or that Vex had once had green eyes. Freya had looked at him that day from behind Bella’s eyes and seemed curious herself, though she kept her thoughts to herself on the matter. Something had intrigued her wolf about his that day, but she’d not done anything about it.
Bella was just sitting back waiting for the day that Whitney would ask to go and see his father’s pack. She wasn’t going to deny him that. It was his birth right. Today it seemed was that day. She’d woken up to find Whit prowling around outside of her bedroom. The sun was barely up, and she’d woken because she could hear him pacing about.
Bella smiled at him and asked him what was wrong. He’d looked at her and, for the first time ever, had looked to be uncertain about asking her something. She’d hugged him as she’d walked to the kitchen.” Whatever it is, Whit, I’m not likely to say no if it’s a reasonable request.” She’d told him.
“Um… Well… Parker is leaving tomorrow to go back to Lustrous Moon.”
“I’m aware.” She nodded. Though she wasn’t going to say it for him.
This needed to come from him, to be his decision with no one else’s help. She’d expected it two months ago when he’d started to ask her questions about Lustrous Moon’s Alpha Unit, and if they had children, something she couldn’t really answer. She didn’t know the information.
She had limited her information so that Whit would have to ask Parker or his unit about certain things. She’d told Parker not to tell her either, so that Whit would have to ask him and help their bond form. He’d seemed a bit shocked by that, but then had nodded and so when he asked her things, she could direct him to Parker. Which she did.
“Well…” he hesitated once more, and she smiled as she made herself a cup of coffee and then leaned on the kitchen bench to watch him. It was only early and the other children here were still sleeping. He was up because he was anxious to ask her his question.
“You’re not my son.” She teased him a little. “He would just say what he wants.”
Cla
“Mum…” he practically whined at her, also not something he would do normally and she chuckled softly. “Whit, whatever it is, just ask. What’s the worst that could happen?” she asked him.
“You could say, no.” he murmured,
“Correct, so it’s not that bad, just ask.” She prompted him once more.
He was looking at her, and she could still see he was nervous and anxious about asking her this very question. But she patiently waited for him to speak.
“I was,… Well, can I, um, can we… go and look at dad’s pack?” he finally rushed out those last words. She stood staring at him for a long quiet moment and not because it was a no, but because that was the first time he’d called Parker, dad. He’d felt their kin bond for the past six months, but had stubbornly refused to call him anything but Parker, and he’d always corrected Parker when he’d used the word son. Made Parker call him Whitney, not even Whit like everyone else around here did.
She was torturing him right this minute, and she knew it, not on purpose, but out of shock of hearing that one word. Though as she watched his hands start to wring in front of him, she nodded and sipped her coffee. “Yes, if you like,” she finally answered him “Now was that so hard to ask me?” she smiled at him. “Yes,” He muttered. “You’re so mean sometimes.”
Bella chuckled softly, “I know, I like tormenting you. I also knew you’d ask sooner or later. I have been expecting it for a couple of months now.”
“W… What?” he turned annoyed eyes on her. “And you thought it was funny to have me be all scared to ask you that?”
“Mm.” she nodded. “I have a weird sense of humour.”
“You could have just offered us to go there,” he muttered at her.
Bella shook her head ‘no‘. “It had to come from you, when you were ready and not before. You’re asking because the school break starts next week, yes?”
r
Whit nodded “But… Well.”
“I’ll be going with you Whit, and so will Milly… but Whit, you need to think about it. What happens if you like it there?” she asked curiously herself.
Bella did understand everything about what was going on around her with her son. That Parker wanted him inside Lustrous Moon not just for a visit but to live there. He wanted to be fully acknowledged as Whit’s father and that he wanted to be able to announce him as the Heir to his pack as well. All the things Whit was actually entitled to, things she wouldn’t deny him either, but like Parker she wanted them to be on Whit’s terms.
“I don’t know,” Whit murmured. “You’re not going to want to move back there, are you? Not when you left it
