Chloe Quinn lay weakly in her hospital bed, wearing a blue and white striped gown. Her face was so pale it was almost translucent.

Harrison Wells led a caretaker into the room, his tone formal and distant.

"Ms. Quinn, this is the caretaker Mr. Lowery hired to look after you while you recover from the procedure."

"Where is he?" Chloe looked at him with desperate hope.

"Mr. Lowery has been very busy lately. He doesn't have time to visit."

"Hah! Is he busy, or is he just sick of me?"

Harrison remained expressionless as he placed a bank card lightly on the nightstand.

"Mr. Lowery asked me to tell you that starting today, you are no longer needed at the company. The apartment in Peninsula Bay and this card are your severance package."

Chloe snatched a pillow and hurled it at him, instantly breaking down.

"You tell Lucas I refuse! He can't just throw me away like this!"

Harrison slowly turned back, his eyes filled with undisguised contempt. "Ms. Quinn, you were nothing but a plaything to Mr. Lowery. He entertained you when he was in a good mood. Did you seriously think he had fallen in love with you?"

"Don't forget the dirty tricks you used to seduce him and ruin his engagement with Ms. Grant."

Chloe shook with rage, pointing a trembling finger at Harrison. "This is between him and me! Who the hell do you think you are to lecture and mock me?"

He was just an assistant who used to bow and scrape in front of her. Now he had the nerve to walk all over her?

"I'm just stating the facts." Harrison finished his piece and walked straight out.

The hospital room was left echoing with Chloe's hysterical sobbing and screaming.

With shaking hands, she dialed Lucas's number and sobbed her complaints into the phone.

"Was anything he said untrue?"
