"Vanessa, since when did you and Ace get so close?"
He had assumed today was their first official meeting, but the way they interacted made them look like they had known each other for years.
Remembering the embarrassing blunder at dinner, he couldn't help but ask, "Did you really mistake Benedict for Ace, too?"
Vanessa offered a soft "Yeah," and proceeded to recount the entire misunderstanding from when she went to meet him in Savannah.
"Then how did you end up meeting Ace?"
"It's a long story..."
Before she could finish, Giselle let out a disdainful scoff from the back seat. "So dramatic! You couldn't even figure out who your own fiancé was. What an absolute joke!"
Giselle had never been so humiliated in her entire life! She had prepared a whole arsenal of manipulative jabs for tonight, and she didn't get to use a single one.
"Didn't you make the exact same mistake, Giselle?" Vanessa looked at her with a calm, half-mocking expression. "Though, I certainly didn't expect my own sister to care so much about me that she'd 'sacrifice herself' just to test my fiancé's moral character..."
"You bitch!" Giselle's face turned deathly pale. She was ready to explode in furious humiliation, but Elaine quickly grabbed her arm.
Elaine squeezed her hand, silently telling her to calm down, before forcing a smile. "We're all family here. Giselle just cares too much and made a silly mistake."
Cares too much, right!
Vanessa flatly withdrew her gaze and didn't bother responding.
Upon returning to the Grant residence, Vanessa gave George a quick nod and headed straight upstairs, dragging Gavin away from the TV in the living room while she was at it.
The moment she reached the upper floor, the temperature in the living room plummeted to absolute zero.
"Stand right there!"
