Just as the tension was spiraling completely out of control, Vanessa forcibly pulled back from the overwhelming haze of lust.
Her hands rested lightly against his hard, burning chest. She was panting softly, her lips swollen and her eyes heavy with a seductive, intoxicating allure that made his heart pound.
"Well, Mr. Howard? Are you satisfied with my performance?"
It was rare to see her take the initiative like this. Alistair's eyes were pitch-black as he stared intently at her bruised lips, his throat tight with blatant hunger.
"I didn't get enough of a taste. Let's do it again."
He flipped them over, pinning her against the cushions, and leaned down to capture her lips once more.
Vanessa quickly raised a slender finger, pressing it lightly against his mouth to stop him. She was still catching her breath. "Alistair, don't play dirty. You were clearly very satisfied."
"You aren't me. How would you know if I was satisfied?"
He gently trailed his fingers down her soft cheek, his dark eyes tracing the delicate lines of her face.
She looked nothing like the child she used to be.
Back then, she had been a chubby, adorable little girl. Now, the baby fat was gone, leaving behind a sharp, stunning jawline and captivating eyes that exuded a lethal charm with every smile.
Her complexion was radiant, her lips cherry-red. She hovered beautifully on the line between pure innocence and absolute seduction.
Alistair suddenly reached up, capturing the finger she had pressed against his lips. He leaned in close, his breath hot against her skin, his voice an irresistible rumble.
"You started this, Ms. Grant." His Adam's apple bobbed, his gaze bottomless. "You light the fire, and now you want to run away from the consequences?"
Her eyes went wide, her cheeks blazing. "You were the one who implied I needed to perform."
She had never met a man so utterly shameless, twisting the narrative to make it her fault.
Alistair let out a low chuckle. "I never told you to kiss me. The fact that you threw yourself at me just proves you simply can't resist me."
"You just love bullying me. Get off, I'm done playing games with you."
She yanked her hand back and struggled, trying to slip out from under him.
"Don't move," his voice dropped dangerously low, thick with warning.
