Claimed by the Crown Heir novel Chapter 58

The jade was smooth and warm, still faintly carrying Vanessa's unique scent.

He slipped the pendant around his neck and closed his eyes, almost feeling as though she were right there beside him.

Suddenly, a sharp, twisting pain stabbed through his stomach.

All color drained from his handsome face as he clutched his abdomen, his lips turning paper-white from the agony.

Pills.

He remembered Vanessa always keeping a bottle of painkillers in his office.

Yanking open the second drawer on the left, he found the small white bottle sitting quietly in the corner.

He grabbed it, unscrewed the cap, and brought it to his lips.

It was completely empty.

Then he remembered he had finished the bottle last week.

He never had to worry about these things.

Vanessa had always restocked everything for him; whenever he needed his medication, the bottle was always full.

"Harrison!"

He shouted toward the door.

No response.

Gritting his teeth against the searing pain, he dialed Harrison's number.

When Harrison finally rushed in, he found Lucas slumped over his desk, pale and sweating.

"Mr. Lowery, what's wrong?"

"Take this... go to the pharmacy and buy me some painkillers."

Harrison grabbed the empty bottle and sprinted out.

Ten minutes later, he returned.

"Mr. Lowery, the pharmacist said these painkillers are a custom herbal blend. They don't sell them over the counter. I could only get ibuprofen."

"Give them to me!"

Lucas snatched the box, popped a few pills, and swallowed them dry with cold water.

Instead of easing, the twisting pain intensified.

Seeing the situation rapidly deteriorating, Harrison immediately called an ambulance.

Lucas had grown up as an orphan, constantly starving and skipping meals, which permanently ruined his stomach. Later, during the early days of his startup, he had drunk heavily to entertain clients and secure deals, resulting in chronic, agonizing stomach cramps.

Ever since Vanessa had started managing his diet, the attacks had become far less frequent.

As the paramedics hauled Lucas away, Dolly cursed under her breath, 'Serves him right!'

She immediately pulled out her phone and made a call.
