Chapter 301
Rania didn’t know how to face Maximus after her breakdown last night, but she couldn’t avoid him either.
Therefore, she decided to stop whimpering and pitying herself. She got up from the bed and put on her best dress. This was what she had decided, so she was going to go through it.
“Moon Goddess, please give me strength.” Rania pulled down her hair, because this was the way Maximus liked it.
She went out of the room and saw Cam was waiting for her.
“Good morning, my queen,” Cam greeted her with a big smile. “Do you want to take a walk?”
“No, I want to see Max,” Rania said, smiling sweetly at the young warrior. Lucian was not there, it seemed, he was having another assignment.
“Oh, the king has just finished his meeting with the other princes, do you want me to escort you there?” Cam asked excitedly.
“Yes, please.” Rania followed him. She didn’t talk much and Cam had learned not to talk recklessly like he used to.
Lucian could be very stern and while Ares didn’t really mind with him trying to engage the queen into a conversation. Lucian was more formal. Unless, Rania talked to him and asked question, he was no allowed to talk with her.
Therefore, their walk to the king’s study filled with silence.
Rania was deep in her thought when they finally arrived at the study, it was the same time when Abigail wanted to enter the room too, she was standing outside, talking to a warrior.
“Abigail? What happened here?” Rania was surprised to see Abigail, she looked at the warriors, who guarded the door.
“Oh, my queen, I am sorry for the interruption, but I came here to give this fruit to the king. This is the signature of our kingdom and my brothers forgot to give it to the king when they met him in the meeting.” Abigail shuffled on her feet. “I thought you were also inside. I am sorry. I want you to try it too.”
Rania looked at the tray that Abigail held. There were a few fruits there and she didn’t recognize two of them.
“Thank you so much.” Rania smiled at the princess and then shifted her attention to the two warriors. “Why don’t you let her in?”
“The king doesn’t want to receive any guest,” the warrior replied.
“Including me?” Rania smiled cheekily.
“You are not a guest, my queen,” the other warrior replied tactfully.
Rania smiled at them. “Step aside then.”
For a moment, the two warriors were hesitant, but then they stepped aside and let her in. They thought Rania would only take the fruit with her, but to their surprised, the queen asked Abigail to come with her too.
“Come here. Let’s get inside,” Rania said with a big smile on her lips. She took Abigail’s hand and pulled her in.
“But… I…” Abigail blinked her eyes, she looked scared, but she entered the room anyway with the queen.
Inside, Maximus was not alone, he was with Eiten who explained a few things to him, Both of them were talking about a serious matter when they finally realized Rania had entered the room with princess Abigail.

Chapter 301
“Am I interrupting you?” Rania let go of Abigail’s hand, as she walked towards Maximus and kissed his cheek, leaving Abigail in the middle of the room with a tray of fruit in her hand.
She stood there awkwardly and slightly averted her eyes when the king and queen started kissing.
Meanwhile, Eiten could only roll his eyes. This was not his first rodeo to witness this, but he didn’t think he would to it any time soon.
The royal gamma missed his sweet, and timid mate…

Actually, Rania only kissed Maximus on the check, she didn’t mean to show such display of affection, but it was Maximus, who pulled her closer and refused to let her go.
“Are you feeling better?” Maximus finally pulled away from his mate, but his put his arm around her waist, so Rania wouldn’t be able to go anywhere.
“I am fine.” Rania knew what Maximus meant. She immediately shifted his attention to Abigail, who was standing in the middle of the room, holding a tray. “Abigail, why don’t you come here? You want to let the king try the fruit from your kingdom, right?”
“Oh, right…” Abigail then came closer, she lowered her head and put the tray on the table for the king and queen tried. “This is the fruit…”
Rania tuned out Abigail’s explanation, because she had other thing to think about.
She was not stupid. She knew the fruit was only an excuse and her intuition was right after she watched Abigail closely.
The way she spoke, the way she moved, the way she tried to engage Maximus in a conversation and how she stole a glance at him a couple of times.
The gesture was subtle, but Rania knew what the other woman wanted. She knew what kind of hidden agenda that she had.
She knew that… but, she didn’t try to stop it.
Rania had her own hidden agenda too.
Her chest was squeezed tightly when she thought about it.
Calm down. It’s okay. This is for the best. It will be fine. Rania kept chanting the same thing over and over again like a charm.
She tried to accept this, but this was harder than she imagined. She didn’t know why, but her breathing became short.
“Are you, okay?” Maximus asked. He leaned over and kissed Rania’s ear as he whispered to her.
“I am fine.” Rania flashed a convincing smile when she turned her head and looked at him. “Why don’t you try the fruit?”
Maximus didn’t respond to the suggestion right away, but all of sudden, he spoke in a low and dark voice.
“All of you leave.”
Eiten widened his eyes, he was about to complain because they were in the middle of an important discussion, but when he saw the look on Maximus’s face, he knew better not to stay there any longer.
Moreover, if Maximus was occupied with Rania, most of the time, it would take a long time, thus he would have an extra time with Eli and Bella.
With that thought, Eiten happily left.

However, Abigail was late to response to the king’s order. Thankfully, she immediately gathered her thought and then followed Eiten out of the room.
Once the two of them left, Maximus pulled Rania until she fell on his lap.
He said nothing, which only made him look scarier and only stared down at his mate.

“Max. What is it?” Rania tried to control her beating heart, she knew she was at wrong, but she tried to put a brave façade in front of him. “Why are you staring at me like that? I am sorry, did I interrupt you in the middle of important matter? I will leave now.”
Rania tried to get away from Maximus, but he put his big palm against her chest to push her back, leaving her unable to stand up from his lap.
“What are you planning?” Maximus looked at Rania deep into her eyes.
“Wh- what?” Rania stuttered a bit, but she immediately gathered her bearing and controlled herself. “I don’t understand what are you trying to say. I have no plan.”
“Rania, I know you. Tell me what is it.”
Rania put an innocent face. “I have no plan, Maximus. The only one person who is full of plans between us is you.”
However, Maximus was not convinced, but aside from his instinct, he had no proof of that, therefore, he asked another matter that had bothered him since last night, another problem that was important too.
“Tell me why are you crying last night.” Maximus pinched Rania’s chin and made her look at him. “Tell me what bothered you.”
Rania met his eyes, because Maximus would know right away that she lied if she did otherwise.
“I felt so sad all of sudden last night.”
“Is it because of a child again?”
In a way, Maximus was right. This would always be the sore spot for Rania and that was the reason why she cried, but that was not the main reason why she was having a mental breakdown.
Because only imagining Maximus was touching someone else, even kissing them, he couldn’t stop the pain that gnawed her
chest.
Rania didn’t answer the question, and Maximus thought he was right. “I have told you countless time, I don’t want a child.”
“Maximus…” Rania cupped his face. “You need an heir.”
Maximus’s eyes turned darker when he heard that. He was not stupid. He knew there was something not right. He knew his mate was planning something.
“You…” Rania gulped down with difficulty. She had to admit that Maximus could read her very easily. She was like an open book for him.
She did plan something, but Rania wanted to do it subtly. She wanted to take things slow, because she knew Maximus would reject it strongly.
However, Rania was not a good planner, she didn’t know how to be sneaky, especially behind Maximus’s back.
She had thought about this matter a few times, but she still couldn’t find a solution, therefore, this was her best shot.
“You need an heir, Maximus… why don’t you… Why don’t you take a woman to be your mistress?” Rania felt her throat caved
