“Are you crazy? Are you out of your fucking mind?” Maximus growled dangerously when he heard Rania’s suggestion. “And you are fine with it? You don’t mind with it?” His voice turned slightly darker and Rania could feel the rage that emitted from him. She knew this would happen.

And from the corner of his eyes, Maximus saw the tray of fruit that Abigail had brought earlier. Everything clicked for him.

“Do you want me to fuck her and put my seed inside her so she can carry a child, an heir for me? That’s what you want? You are fine with me having sex with another woman?”

The rawness in the way Maximus spoke made Rania flinched.

“Do you want me to touch another woman? Do you want me to have a child with them? Or do you want to watch me fucking them too?”

Maximus didn’t raise his voice, but the anger and the pain was palpable. Rania could feel his anguish through the mate bond. He felt betrayed by her, and Rania didn’t know how to explain herself.

“Maximus…” Rania bit her lip, trying to prevent herself from crying, because this was not the right time for her to cry.

However, Maximus couldn’t handle his anger anymore. He couldn’t control it. He grabbed Rania and then stood up, making her stand up with him too.

“Maximus, please… let’s talk…” Rania grabbed his arms tightly, but Maximus didn’t want to listen to her.

“There is nothing to talk about. You have determined to do this, right?” Maximus let go of Rania, because he was afraid, he could break her arm. He would be able to do it without a problem, but he didn’t want to.

He was angry with her because of what she was planning to do, but there was no part of him that wanted to hurt her, or cause her any harm.

Therefore, before he could do something that he would regret, he needed to leave.

Yet, he threw the tray on the table away. The tray that Abigail brought earlier. All of the fruits fell on the ground. Some fruits were crushed under Maximus’s feet when he walked out of the room, leaving Rania alone.

For a long moment, Rania only stared at the crushed fruit on the floor. She didn’t know what to think. She felt surreal, as if what happened earlier was not something that happened to her, as if it was someone else.

Rania stood there without saying anything. She felt numb. Her mind went blank.

She lost track of time and only when the quietness of the room weighed on her and yanked her back to reality, and slowly the pain spread through her system, she realized what she had done.

Tears streamed down her face without her being able to stop it. She cried until her chest was so hurt and her sobs echoed throughout the walls.

She fell on her knees, bent her body forwards and poured out her pain.

She was wrong. She had hurt Maximus, but either way, she was going to hurt him… her inability to be able to give him an heir would be a big problem for him one day, and the worse case scenario, it would be his doom.

A king without an heir…

Eiten was enjoying his time with Eli, since Bella was taking a nap. It was a rare moment, where he had time together with his mate, but when they were making out, a warrior interrupted his moment by calling him through mindlink.

“Something is wrong?” Eli asked, she immediately moved away from Eiten, thinking he felt disgusted by her, since the royal gamma made a face when she kissed him. “Did I do something wrong?”

Eiten immediately shook his head to get his focus back. “Of course not, love,” Eiten said, kissing her lips. “But, the king is causing trouble right now and the warriors need me. I need to go before the king burns down the whole palace.”

Eli widened her eyes, she dreaded the statement and Eiten immediately realized where he had gone wrong here.

“No, no, I only exaggerate thing. Maximus will not burn down the entire palace.” Well, he might destroy some part, though. But, Eiten wouldn’t say that out loud, because Eli didn’t know Maximus yet. She wouldn’t get the joke. “Don’t worry, it will be fine.”

Eli held his hand. “Are you sure? What if the king hurts you?”

Eiten chuckled. “Don’t worry, I have been with him for decades, no matter how crazy he is, he will not hurt me.”

“But…” Eli still didn’t want to let Eiten go, she was afraid if the king would kill him, since that was what happened. The alpha in her previous pack would kill anyone, whenever he was in a bad mood. “But.. I heard… the king from Aspen is called as…” Eli couldn’t bring herself to say it out loud in front of Eiten.

However, Eiten knew what Eli wanted to say, after all, it was not a secret.

“People know him as a mad king, that’s what you want to say?” Eiten asked and he watched Eli nodded sheepishly. He kissed her forehead. “I know him, Eli. He is not the madness that people portrayed him. If you know him better, you will know that he is actually pretty cute.”

If it was someone else, they would have scurried away, but Eiten didn’t. He had gotten used to this side of Maximus. He had seen worse, though.

“Tell me, what is it now?” Eiten asked again, as if Maximus had not just yelled at him viciously.

However, Maximus didn’t heed his presence, as he continued with his brutality. Scream of pain and gurgled of blood could be heard, echoing through the walls of the dungeon.

Knew that he wouldn’t be able to get Maximus’s attention when he was being like this, Eiten decided to save his energy. He crouched down at the door and waited for Maximus to finish with his business.

If only he knew it would end up this way, he would have come later and spent his time more with his mate, instead of watching this gory scene. He had seen enough of this.

It was two hours later when Maximus finally calmed down slightly. He had killed half of the war prisoners in the dungeon.

“Now, tell me what’s going wrong?” Eiten approached Maximus, sitting next to him at the empty corridor in the dungeon. The wall was damp and the ground was cold.
