Maximus said nothing at first, he was still trying to get control over his beast, who threatened to come out, demanding for more blood to appease his rage, yet Maximus managed to control his feral side and told Eiten everything.

“I know she will resort to that,” Eiten said in the end of Maximus’s story.

“You know about that?”

The gamma then felt chill running down his spine. When he tilted his head to look at Maximus, he immediately corrected his words.

“No, what I meant is; you should have seen that from the beginning. I have a feeling that she will try that when I knew she walked with princess Abigail and didn’t come to see Eli at all. You know her too, she is not someone, who can get closer to anyone very easily, and if she put an effort to know that person, I think it’s because she has a hidden agenda about it…”

Maximus fixed his sharp gaze at Eiten and this made the gamma wanted to cry. He didn’t Maximus was being mean to him?

“You should have known about this too, Maximus. The fact that she can’t give you an heir has been weighing him. I can sense that, there is no way you are not capable of sensing it.” Eiten looked at Maximus and he knew he had said the right thing.

Maximus closed his eyes, but his jaw clenched tightly and dangerous aura still emitted from him.

“Maximus, it is better to talk to her. If you avoid her, it can snowball into a big misunderstanding. You two have gone through such misunderstanding. I think you don’t want to do it again, right?”

The misunderstanding that had killed their firstborn and now it had caused Rania greatly. It was all because of him.

“I can’t see her now.” Maximus opened his eyes, he stared at the ceiling. He remembered the look on Rania’s face and he knew he had hurt her unintentionally again.

“Fine, if you can’t see her right now, but don’t take long.” Eiten leaned his back against the damp wall and stared at the ceiling again. “But, on serious note, what are you going to do with the heir? You are not going to live forever.”

Eiten felt the killing intention spiked again, and immediately moved a little bit further away from Maximus.

“Damn it, Max! Keep it down! I didn’t try to imply anything!” Eiten looked like he was about to cry because Maximus treated him this way. “I am only curious. Spare me.”

This time, Eiten was sitting two meters away from Maximus. He didn’t think he would kill him, but he could try. He still remembered the last fight, Maximus beat him down for good and it took him a few days to recover.

He didn’t want to go through that again, especially when Eli was crazily concern about his safety.

“I didn’t mean that I support Rania, I would have been pissed if Eli tried to pull such card on me.” Eiten scratched his head. “I would have reacted strongly too, but my position and you are different. I don’t have a kingdom to inherit or a royal blood that required me to have an heir, and if Eli couldn’t give me a child, I will be contented with Bella.”

There was this soft smile that grazed Eiten’s lips when he talked about that little girl. She was a nuisance whenever he wanted to be alone with Eli, but when she was not around, it felt like there was something important that was missing.

“You can have the throne. Your firstborn can have the throne. I have said this before and the offer is still the same.” Maximus didn’t even think twice when he answered Eiten’s question.

Hearing that, Eiten immediately put his finger on his lips, shushing Maximus quickly, while looking around, just in case there was someone else there, who overheard their conversation,

“Don’t be crazy. I don’t want it. Take it back. Don’t let someone hear this, it will cause us trouble. Ugh! Stop saying scary things like that.” Eiten shuddered. He didn’t want to lead a kingdom, two kingdoms now. It would be a hell of a headache for him, who only wanted to retire as soon as possible and live a peaceful life.

Maximus glanced at Eiten. He said nothing, but it didn’t mean he took back what he said, if anything, he became even more resolute to make it happened.

Rania was not someone, who was greedy of power, therefore this decision wouldn’t concern her, but she would be concerned about him.

Because in Rania’s mind, Maximus’s destiny was to be the king, but this king didn’t want anything to do with the kingdom if he couldn’t have his queen by his side.

For a long moment the two of them were sitting there, talking about nonsensical thing and then when the night close to midnight, Maximus stood up.

“Finally!” Eiten stretched out his body. “I thought you are going to stay the night here, covered in blood and breathe the stench of it.”

“You are free to leave,” Maximus said casually, as he walked away.

“No way. I can’t leave you when you are being like this, you scared the warriors.”

“If they are scared of a little violence, they are free to leave too, I don’t need a scaredy cat as a warrior.” Maximus walked pass

a few warriors when he said that and all of them shuddered, they didn’t even dare to look at the king’s shoes.

Meanwhile, Eiten was speechless, but he followed Maximus from behind, until he reached his bedroom without saying anything. He walked five steps away from him.

Maximus knew that Eiten was following him, but he treated him as a thin air, because his mind was occupied by the thought of Rania and what he was going to say to her.

This conversation was long overdue, they had to discuss about it.

However, when Maximus reached the bedroom and stepped in, he realized Rania was not there. There was no trace of her scent inside, it meant she had not yet returned here for a long time.

[Where is the queen?] Maximus mindlinked Cam, because the young warrior was with Rania when she came to his study.

[The queen is still in the study, my king. She has not yet come out since this afternoon,] Cam immediately replied, his voice filled with dread, because he knew it was not good news.

Hearing that, Maximus groaned angrily, he immediately shifted into his beast and headed towards the study, where Cam and Lucian were knocking on the door, trying to get Rania’s response.

The two of them immediately stepped aside when they saw the king and greeted him politely.

However, Maximus paid no mind to the two of them when he entered the room. The only reason why Cam and Lucian didn’t enter the room was because Rania gave them a direct order not to. They couldn’t defy the queen’s direct order, unless the king said otherwise.

The room was dark, the light came from the ray of moonlight from the window behind his chair, but Rania was nowhere to be found.

Yet, Maximus knew Rania was here. This place filled with her sweet scent.

It was not hard for Maximus to find her, Rania was hiding under the table, hugging herself and stared at the window. She lowered her head when he saw Maximus, she didn’t want to see him. didn’t want to see him.

Maximus wanted to scream and yell at her because she neglected her health. She had been here without eating or drinking anything ever since he left her this afternoon.

However, when Maximus saw the look on her face, his heart softened and his anger

vanished.

“What are you doing here?” Maximus crouched down in front of her. In this dimly lit room, it was not hard for Maximus to see the silhouette of his mate.

The silver light of the moonlight fell on her face, and she looked so beautiful, like an angel with eyes as clear as the river.

“You must be hungry, why don’t we eat?” Maximus stretched out his hand and caressed Rania’s head. Thankfully, she didn’t swat his hand away, which meant, it was okay for him to touch her. “Let’s eat something, shall we? I have not yet eaten anything.”

Rania didn’t respond at first, but when she heard Maximus had not yet eaten anything, she lifted her head and looked at Maximus.

She couldn’t care less about herself, but when it came to him, she could put aside her grievances.

Seeing this, the remaining anger in Maximus’s heart vanished. She cared about him so much to the point, she didn’t care about herself, but unfortunately, Maximus felt the same for her too.

He would give up the world for her, because she was his world.

“Please, ask me anything, but not to betray you. I can’t do it. Kill me if you want, but I can’t touch another woman, but you.” Maximus pressed his forehead against hers. “I can’t do that, Rania.”

Maximus’s voice was a little bit trembling, he spoke very softly with her, even in this afternoon when he was very angry with her, he didn’t raise his voice at all.

There were a sincerity and a vulnerability in the way he begged for her not to force him to do it.
