The lights dispelled the darkness in the room. I kicked off my shoes, then fetched a brand-new pair of men’s slippers from the shoe cabinet and set them in front of him. “Got these for you. Try them on and see if they fit.”
Leonardo glanced down at the slippers. There was a sparkle in his eyes, like a tiny star had just lit up his world. Without even bothering to try them on, he blurted out, “I love them.”
That made me break into a smile. I looked at him, my eyes all crinkled.
His gaze softened at the sight of my smile. “What are you grinning about?” he asked in a soft voice.
I said in a light-hearted, sassy tone, “Well, people out there say the heir of Silver-Maned Pack is cold and scary. But I’m the only one who knows he’s actually… so easy to please and so gentle.”
A faint blush flashed across Leonardo’s face, and he quickly nodded to hide it.
“Did you have dinner?” I asked.
“Yeah, I did,” he replied.
I was relieved, though a bit of guilt still lingered. Then I dashed excitedly into the kitchen and said, “What would you like to drink? I’ve got juice, coffee, or some special drinks here.”
Leonardo followed me in. I could feel his eyes on my back as I stood on my tiptoes to reach the jars on the top-shelf. The next second, a strong arm wrapped around my waist from behind, and his other hand easily grabbed those nicely-packaged cans of sparkling water.
“Is this what you want?” His breath tickled my ear.
“Yeah!” I nodded, thinking how awesome it was to be an Alpha with that height advantage.
“Thanks,” I said, turning around with a smile. Only then did I realize we were standing so close, our bodies almost touching, our breaths mingling, like we were about to kiss.
“Your cabinet’s pretty tall,” Leonardo murmured, his eyes fixed on my lips, his voice a bit husky.
I absent-mindedly rubbed the cold can of sparkling water and cleared my throat. “Yeah. So, what will you have?”
His eyes scanned the colorful little bottles on the bar counter. A lot of those special drinks I mentioned had alcohol in them.
“Can you make cocktails?” Leonardo leaned against the kitchen doorframe, looking relaxed, but his predator-like eyes never left me.
“A little. Think of ’em as fancy sodas,” I said, holding up my fingers with a tiny gap between them.

Equipped with all the right tools and following meticulous steps, I could feel his intense gaze on me as I shook the cocktail shaker. Under his watchful eyes, my movements became more fluid, almost like a performance. Eventually, two cocktails of different colors were poured into delicate glasses: one was a pale blue, like a glacier, and the other a soft pink, reminiscent of a newly-bloomed rose..
I slid the pale-blue one towards him. “Give it a try?” I remembered he didn’t like overly sweet drinks, so there was no sugar in this special concoction.
Leonardo picked up the glass and took a big sip. He frowned slightly; the drink was clearly icy, but it was refreshing on the palate. He gave a light cough and said, “It’s good.”
“Was it too cold? Let me pour you a hot drink instead,” I offered, reaching for his glass, but he dodged my hand.
“No need. I wanna savor this drink you made for me,” he said, clutching the glass tightly, his eyes never leaving my face.
His direct gaze made me a bit flustered. I quickly grabbed my own glass and gently clinked it against his. “Cheers.”
Leonardo gave a low grunt. As he saw my flustered gestures, a faint amusement seemed to flicker in his
