Leonardo’s POV:

Before she could even finish her sentence, the pen in my hand went flying, hitting the plush carpet with a dull thud. Victoria jolted, clearly startled. I’d always been brought up with strict etiquette and rarely lost my cool in front of others, especially her.
Tears welled up in her eyes and spilled over. “Leonardo, seriously? You’re turning on me for some half- breed Beta you’ve barely known?”
“Victoria, make sure you get this straight.” I fixed her with a cold stare, as if she were a complete stranger daring to challenge me. “She’s my fiancée. Considering the Thompson family’s past favors, I’ll overlook this incident. But if I ever catch wind of anyone badmouthing her again, there’ll be hell to pay.
“That includes the Thompson family. If you can’t accept this, then the long-standing bond between our families can be severed right here and now.”
“Leonardo, do you really loathe me that much? It was all my fault back then. Don’t mess up your life just to get back at me… She doesn’t deserve you,” Victoria sobbed.
“Didn’t you catch my words?” I interrupted, taking a deep breath. Then, without giving her a chance to keep arguing, I reached for the landline and started punching in the numbers.
Victoria knew me too well. She was aware that I always followed through on my threats. I’d pull the plug on the cooperation even if it meant huge losses. This project was a make-or-break deal for the Thompson family.
“Alright! I’m leaving! Right away! I’ll stop snooping on her and delete those pictures for good!” At the last minute, she backed down. She couldn’t risk the family’s future.
Watching her cry her heart out, I hung up the phone expressionlessly.
“Out,” I said icily.
Aaron’s POV:
Victoria was a mess, sobbing loudly as she covered her face and bolted out of Leonardo’s office. I felt a pang of sympathy. A little later, I stepped in, thinking of asking Leonardo if he wanted to smooth things
over.
But then I heard him say flatly, “From now on, Victoria’s not allowed in my office without my say-so. And once this project with the Thompson family wraps up, tell everyone we’re done with them for good.”
I was taken aback. The Sanchez and Thompson families had a long-standing alliance, and Leonardo and Victoria had once been close. I’d always assumed that even after finding his mate, Leonardo wouldn’t be so harsh on Victoria.
But it seemed that once he set his boundaries, there was no going back.
Was it sheer cold-bloodedness, or was it because he cared so deeply about someone that he couldn’t stand

Grace’s POV:
It was a dull afternoon at the Richardson Villa.

I supported Louisa into the living room and settled her on the sofa. Just then, the butler scurried in, his face ashen and a file bag clutched tightly in his hands.
“Madam Richardson, Mrs. Grace Richardson. We’ve just received an encrypted fax!” he stammered, his voice quivering.
I was already on edge and snapped irritably, “For heaven’s sake! It’s just a fax. Quit making such a fuss and send it to the study.”
The butler wiped the sweat off his brow and glanced nervously at Louisa, hesitating. “It’s…”
Louisa’s cold stare cut through him. “Speak up. There’s no one here who shouldn’t hear.”
Swallowing hard, the butler managed to say, “The fax is about Mr. Nathan Richardson. It’s an Ancestral Tracking report. The sender’s details are all scrambled, and we can’t figure out where it came from.”
Those two words, “Ancestral Tracking,” hung in the air like a dark cloud. Louisa and I exchanged a horrified look. In the werewolf world, it was the equivalent of a damning DNA test in the human realm.
“Just a report about an adopted kid,” I scoffed, grabbing the file bag and tearing it open with a rough jerk.
Louisa leaned forward, her gnarled hand gripping her cane tightly, her eyes fixed intently on the papers I was about to pull out.
As the contents of the report came into view, time seemed to stand still. I blinked, thinking I must be hallucinating.
Louisa snatched the papers from my hands. One look and she let out a strangled gasp, almost collapsing. I quickly caught her. “Louisa, calm down! Breathe!”
The report fluttered to the floor, and the butler quickly retrieved it.
The words were clear as day.
“Ancestral tracing concludes that based on blood-mark analysis, Aaliyah and Nathan share a direct matrilineal bloodline.”
