Chapter 138 Ours and Ours Alone

Natalie’s POV:

It took me a moment to realize the underlying meaning in his words. He cared about my past.

I said, raising my head and looking at him candidly, “I’ve only ever crafted little things for myself. You’re the very first person besides me that I’ve been so keen on making a gift for personally.”

That was no lie. As a half-blood werewolf, self-care became second nature during my upbringing. I’d find solace in creating trinkets for myself in lonely moments. When I was with Landon, I’d often thought of making him a gift to show my affection, but he’d always turn me down, saying it was sloppy and time- wasting. He judged everything by its price tag and never truly appreciated my intentions.

Leonardo, however, was a different story. I could sense that he valued the sentiment behind the gift.

Leonardo gave a barely audible “hmm” and then averted his head slightly. His hand instinctively lifted, as if trying to conceal something.

This train of thought led me to Victoria. Since he’d inquired about my past, it was only fair I got to the bottom of things, too.

“Leonardo.” I set down the tools in my hand and lowered my voice. “You chose to bond with me today. It wasn’t because of what Victoria said, was it?” Even though I dismissed her words, the timing of the bonding right after her provocation made me suspicious. I paused, attempting to sound nonchalant but still revealing a hint of concern. “I know I shouldn’t have, but it being today!.. I can’t help but have doubts.”

Leonardo promptly put aside the polishing tool and fixed his steady gaze on me without a second’s delay. “Absolutely not.”

He leaned in closer, his eyes deep and starry. “It’s ancient history between me and her. I make my own decisions, and no one can influence me.” His voice was resolute. “There was an impulsive side to bonding today, but it’s what my heart truly desires, and it has zero to do with anyone else.”

The nagging doubt in my heart disappeared right away, and a faint smile appeared on my face. “Alright, I believe you.”

“Don’t you want to know the ins and outs of what happened between me and her?” he asked, looking intently into my eyes.

I shook my head. “I’ll listen if you want to share. But if it’s a painful past that weighs you down, you don’t have to tell me, and I won’t ballger you about it.” My tone was even-keeled, brimming with trust. “Everyone has a past. If you say it’s over, then it is. I’m content with just your present and future.”

Leonardo’s POV:

Natalie’s words were like a gentle touch, instantly soothing the lingering turmoil in my heart from the past. For the first time, I felt such unadulterated warmth and tranquility with someone.

I couldn’t resist reaching out and pulling Natalie into my embrace. Her body stiffened for a split second before melting against me. Her trust was as pure as moonlight, untainted.

“Okay.” I tightened my hold on Natalie, feeling the warmth of her delicate frame, like I wanted to hold her close to my very being. “The past is history. It doesn’t matter.” My voice was deep, carrying a solemnity I hadn’t anticipated. “Natalie, believe me. From the moment we took the Moon Goddess’ vow, every moment left in my life will be ours and ours alone.”

“Same here,” she whispered softly in my arms, her voice soft against my heart.
