When I saw Leonardo, a flicker of hope lit up in my eyes, but it quickly died away. My delicate brows furrowed, making me look even more pitiful and vulnerable. A big reason I came today was that I heard Leonardo would be attending, and I was hoping to see him.

“You got hit, and she got splashed. Doesn’t that make you even? How is that bullying?” His cool voice rang out, sharp with authority that made me feel like I’d been doused with ice

water.

Seeing Leonardo and the elders of the Sanchez family, the crowd automatically parted respectfully. My parents completely lost their earlier bluster. My mother pulled me back and said, “Alright, Eleanor. Chloe is your sister. A little friction is normal. Be reasonable.”

I wanted to argue, but then I met Leonardo’s gaze, cold and predatory, like an apex hunter’s. I bit my lip, my heart full of grievance, but I didn’t dare make another sound.

Even though I stayed quiet, Leonardo wasn’t finished. His indifferent gaze shifted to my father, Michael.

He spoke in a cold tone, yet with an undertone of accusation, “Is this how you discipline your daughter at home, Mr. Kelly? Ignoring fairness, letting emotions cloud your judgment. Besides, this is the Scott family’s dinner party. Causing such a scene as a guest is rather improper, don’t you

you think?”

Michael was flustered, not expecting Leonardo to directly intervene in our family matters. “Well, I…” he stammered.

Everyone present seemed equally surprised. Leonardo was famously aloof and

unapproachable. In the werewolf business world he had no friends and no enemies, never showing favoritism to anyone, let alone speaking up for a woman. For him to step in like this was absolutely unprecedented.

In the werewolf business circles, Leonardo’s words were practically law. If he took a dislike to someone, no matter how deep their pockets, they’d find things difficult. And for Leonardo to actively shield someone, this seemed to be a firs

Hearing Leonardo’s words, Michael could only hurriedly apologize, “My apologies, Mr. Sanchez. I let my emotions get the better of me and failed to handle the issue between my daughters properly. This is all my fault today.”

But Leonardo simply ignored Michael. He walked right over to Natalie’s side.

Leonardo came to my side, leaned in close, and intimately whispered in my ear, “Leave it to me.” He then summoned his own attendants and instructed them to escort Chloe and me to the car to change clothes.

Fiona cheerfully followed us. She had thoughtfully brought an extra evening gown for me, just in case, and it actually came in handy.

Eleanor’s POV:

Watching the Sanchez family elder leave with Chloe, my parents and I paled.

Only after they had gone did I finally stomp my foot in frustration. I asked resentfully, confused, “Why… Why would Leonardo stick up for Chloe?”

“Haven’t you heard?” an informed bystander whispered to me by way of explanation. “Leonardo and Natalie are engaged. They’re in an alliance marriage. Natalie spoke up for Chloe, so Mr. Sanchez is protecting his fiancée.

“The alliance between Silver-Maned Pack and Moon-Shadowed Pack was kept secret. The engagement dinner only invited pack members and a very few closely connected, prominent figures. Most families with more distant ties don’t know about it.”

The Kelly family mostly deals with Moon-Shadowed Pack through Penelope. We had barely even met Alexander. After Natalie returned to Moon-Shadowed Pack, Penelope had even less contact with us. No wonder we were out of the loop about the Scott family’s news.

Hearing this felt like having the soul ripped out of me. My legs went weak, and I nearly collapsed right there. “How could it be Natalie? How could he be with Natalie?” I mumbled to myself, my heart shattering.

Even if the person I’d secretly loved for so long didn’t choose me, he should at least be with someone like Victoria, a well-bred, pure-blooded Omega from a proper family, not an arrogant, rude mixed-blood bastard like Natalie

My mother quickly held me up, comforting me Sweetheart, don’t be so upset. If it wasn’t meant to be, you can’t force it.” She knew how I felt. Ever since I met Leonardo, I couldn’t see anyone else. Now that he was truly engaged, she probably thought I should finally give up.

Natalie’s POV:

I led Chloe to the spacious limo and had her change into a light blue strapless mermaid gown I had prepared. We had similar figures. She was a bit shorter than I was, making her seem more petite, but I was slimmer, so my dress fit her just fine.

“This one suits you better,” I said, carefully using a wet wipe to clean the juice stains from her hair, then handing her a powder compact to fix er makeup.
