Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 141

Aaron was probably the most surprised person in the secretarial team.

There were over a dozen people working under Lambert, each with their own job. Aaron was just one of them. Today, his task was to take minutes for the meeting, so he sat close enough to observe everything.

He’d never once seen Lambert pick up his phone during a meeting, ever. But today, he did, right in front of everyone. Even more shocking was the ringtone. It wasn’t the usual chime everyone knew. This one sounded different, intentionally set for someone special.

Who could possibly get that kind of treatment from Lambert?

Everyone tried to sneak glances at him, curiosity practically bouncing around the room. As the ringtone faded, Lambert seemed to snap out of it and reached for his phone. He reached for his phone with a tense, controlled motion that made the room feel suddenly smaller.

It was a message from Camilla.

"Mr. White, Catheleen and I were thinking of checking out the jewelry tomorrow night at eight. Not sure if that works for you, but we’re flexible. You can set the time if you prefer."

Camilla’s wording was overly formal—more like she was writing to a client than a person.

The meeting kept going, but Lambert suddenly raised a hand. "Ten minute break." Then he stood up, left the conference room, and went straight to his office.

Camilla got his reply almost instantly. It was just one word and a question mark.

"You?"

Camilla froze, then remembered what he’d told her before. He said she shouldn’t call him that. It made him feel ancient.

She quickly apologized, "Sorry, my mistake." Then she typed again, "Mr. White, you pick the time. I’m fine with anything."

Lambert replied, "Will you remember next time?"

Camilla answered honestly, "I’ll remember. It won’t happen again."

With that settled, Lambert finally replied, "Tomorrow night at eight works. I’ll have a car sent to pick you up."

Camilla typed back, "No need, we can get there ourselves."

"Would it be too much to ask if you and Catheleen took me out to dinner?"

Camilla immediately relaxed. As long as Catheleen was coming too, a dinner seemed totally reasonable.

She replied quickly, "Of course. Just let us know when you’re free and we’ll take you out."

She had to stop herself from using the formal "you" again.

Lambert answered, "Alright then. See you tomorrow night. We can talk about dinner some other time."

When Lambert got back to the meeting, everyone could tell the air in the room felt lighter. The next project manager to present was secretly delighted. Maybe today he could ask for a little more budget.

Camilla had no idea that sending a few texts could have this much effect.

After confirming the details with Lambert, she updated Catheleen. Lately, Catheleen was swamped with interviews. The Bain family’s business was massive, and Catheleen was basically treated like a little princess at home.
