Their bodies were pressed flush against each other, leaving zero space between them.
Camilla felt so overwhelmingly exposed she thought she might pass out.
Lambert's gaze was scorching, so intense she physically couldn't maintain eye contact.
"Mr. White..." Her voice trembled. "Don't do this, let me go..."
"I wasn't planning on doing anything," he growled, anger vibrating in his chest. "Have I ever forced you? Have I ever crossed a line when you were sober? When have I ever disrespected you?"
He dragged in a harsh breath. "My body reacted, so I took myself to a cold shower. Did I lay a single finger on you?"
Her breath hitched.
He really had been...
It was only then she realized his skin was icy to the touch.
In this weather, he had actually forced himself into freezing water?
He wasn't finished.
"How could you..." he demanded. "How could you just leave like that? I swear, I want to strangle you."
"You..." she whispered meekly. "You should take some Cold and Flu Powder."
He blinked, thrown off by the sudden shift.
Where did that come from?
"Taking a cold shower when it's this chilly out," she mumbled. "You'll get sick."
A humorless laugh escaped him. "Is this really the time to worry about my health? Because if you actually cared..."
He pressed down harder, aligning their hips so she could feel exactly what his body was going through.
"The cold shower didn't work, Cammie," he murmured, his voice dropping to a gravelly register. "Tell me, what should I do now?"
Her mind went entirely blank with panic.
This was the first time she had ever been this intimately entangled with a man while entirely sober.
She didn't know the exact mechanics of the male body, but she had enough basic anatomical knowledge to know exactly what was pressing into her thigh.
Her face flushed crimson as wild panic seized her.
"M-Mr. White..." She writhed beneath him, desperate to break free. "Let me go, please don't..."
