Back when Ayla and Troy were still married, Halle hadn’t had much contact with him. Now she was seeing the post-divorce version of them

She couldn’t help rubbing her temples. Her best friend had always been emotionally steady, yet here they were, fighting over something so petty. But it also made sense. Nobody could handle Troy. When he kept his mouth shut, he almost looked like a decent human being, The second he started talking, nobody could stand it. He was totally unreasonable, like his brain was missing a wire.

She truly felt sorry for Ayla. Those three years of marriage had to have been miserable. No wonder Ayla never wanted to get married again after getting with Draven. The trauma had to be deep.

Ayla had Halle with her, and Troy had also asked someone to come keep him company. His friend was on the way.

Not long after, a nurse led another man into the waiting room.

“Mr. Winston,” the man stepped inside and greeted Troy with deep respect.

But the moment he arrived, the atmosphere in the waiting room sank again.

Troy looked at Edgar and motioned for him to sit.

Halle had been completely focused on her best friend. Now she started worrying about herself. She stared at the man in front of her in shock. It was her fiancé.

Only after Edgar sat down did he notice Halle. He looked just as shocked. He hadn’t expected to run into his fiancée, who was supposed to be back in Drakoria.

Halle and Edgar held each other’s gaze for several seconds. Halle gave a tight, fake smile and said, “Edgar, long time no see.”

Edgar asked in surprise, “Why are you here?”

Troy swept his eyes over Edgar and Halle. Back then, Draven had gone after him and caused trouble across northern Moblosia. Edgar, as the person in charge of the northern Moblosia region, had naturally been held accountable. Troy had learned at the time that Edgar was

way to make Halle’s fiancé. Because of Halle’s connection to Ayla, Troy hadn’t gone out of his trouble for Edgar. A year had passed, and Troy had long forgotten about it. Seeing the two of them greet each other brought the memory back.

Troy looked at Edgar and said, “I hear your daughter is one year old already. Congratulations.”

Ayla was speechless.

Halle and Edgar had no feelings for each other. Naturally, she wasn’t happy to see Edgar at all. After a long pause, she spoke in a cold, mocking tone, “Edgar, you really know how to surprise me. My head is buzzing right now.”

Edgar frowned. “I’ll explain later.”

Troy had no interest in other people’s gossip. “If you want to fight, do it in private.”

Halle laughed. “Mr. Winston, trust me, we don’t need your reminder. We’re not as classless as you. We don’t just cause a scene whenever we feel like it, and we’re not the kind of people who have no shame at all.”

Edgar looked like he had needles in his back. “Hulle! Stop talking!”

Halle sneered. “Was I talking to you? Who do you think you are, telling me to stop?”

Just as everyone in the room was about to explode, Max arrived.

Max looked at Ayla first, then at Troy, and then sat down next to Troy. He could fully feel how awful the mood was. He thought he should’ve stayed at the villa with the two little ones, but since he was already here, he had to smooth things over. “How much longer until I can see my godson and goddaughter?”

With Max there, the group barely kept things from spinning out of control.

Troy checked the time, then pressed the call button for a nurse and asked a few questions.

About 15 minutes passed.

The nurse came to deliver the news.

The older boy had been born and was now in the nursery.

The moment Ayla heard that, she got nervous. The baby was already here. She gripped Halle’s hand and glanced at her. Halle stopped paying attention to Edgar and focused on staying with Ayla, so they could face a newborn together.

When Ayla stood up, she noticed Troy watching her. His gaze didn’t look as arrogant as it usually did. Since she knew him so well, she couldn’t help thinking that someone as crazy as Troy still got nervous sometimes. If he failed at aising the two kids later, he’d better regret what he did today!

Outside the nursery was a huge wall of clear glas. When they walked up to it, they could see the tiny baby inside.
