Divorce Me I'm Done Serving You (Ayla and Troy) novel Chapter 857

Nina answered without any hesitation, "Of course. We already have a baby together. The baby and I can't live without you. You're the head of our family."

Her absolute loyalty clearly pleased Edgar. "No matter what I do, you won't leave me, right?"

Nina answered firmly again, "Of course not."

Edgar liked the way Nina always went along with him. She loved him without conditions and accepted everything about him. If Halle had treated him like this, too, he would have married her a long time ago. They might even have kids by now.

Edgar's eyes darkened a little. "I'm going to start preparing for the wedding with Halle. I'll be moving back home."

Nina's eyes widened. "You... you two..."

The marriage news was completely unexpected for Nina. She had never imagined things would move this fast, and for a moment, she couldn't hide the shock on her face.

Edgar was extremely sensitive to people's reactions. His brows immediately pulled together. "You're unhappy about this? Didn't you say you would always stay by my side?"

Nina reacted quickly. Her eyes turned red almost instantly. "If you marry Halle, then what happens to me? What about our baby? Are you going to leave us behind?"

Nina looked completely heartbroken, and Edgar, who had been a little upset, suddenly felt much better.

The more emotional Nina became, the more it showed how badly she needed him and how unwilling she was to leave him. That feeling of being needed was exactly what Edgar wanted. His mood improved, and he even started comforting her instead. "How could I leave you and the baby? Be good."

Nina said softly, "But you and Halle are getting married..."

Edgar replied, "Even if we get married, it won't change our relationship. Halle knows about you already, and she still agreed to marry me. That just proves she already accepted you and the baby. If she couldn't accept it, she never would've agreed. So things between us won't change in the future either. Don't worry."

Nina had been with Edgar for a long time. Sometimes she felt he was a little foolish. The funny thing was, he wasn't even lying when he said these things—he truly believed them. Like right now, Edgar actually seemed to believe that Halle wanted to marry him.

As a woman, even if Nina didn't understand Halle as well as Edgar did, she still knew one thing for sure. There was no way Halle would accept her future husband having a child with another woman.

But Edgar genuinely believed it. It was honestly ridiculous.

Either Nina had underestimated Halle's feelings for Edgar, or Halle was planning to get back at him.

After being hurt for so long, Halle probably wanted a proper ending to everything, not to be brushed off without even getting an apology after Edgar hurt her.

But someone was blocking her front door.

James leaned against the wall and glanced at her. "So you're really going?"

Halle replied, "There's a family dinner at the Bowman residence tonight. Move out of the way."

James narrowed his eyes. "Since you're in such a hurry..."

Before he even finished speaking, he suddenly leaned closer and quickly kissed her on the lips. Afterward, he looked completely pleased with himself. "There. Now it's official."

Halle stared at him in shock. She never expected James, who had always acted patient and gentlemanly with her, to suddenly pull something like that. "W-What are you doing?"

James raised a brow and said, "Just reminding you. Go back and play along if you want, but keep your distance from Edgar. Don't let him take advantage of you. And if you really can't stand it anymore, come find me. I don't mind being the other man."

They had already slept together, so James no longer felt the need to hide his feelings. At first, he planned to slowly grow closer to Halle. But now she was about to go back and get married. James never thought much of Edgar, but he knew he needed to be more aggressive now if he wanted to keep Halle close.
