Divorce Me I'm Done Serving You (Ayla and Troy) novel Chapter 913

Blake was very stubborn. Once she made up her mind about something, she rarely changed it.

Herman used to respect that. He never told her how to live or criticized her habits. But now, he had turned into a total worrier who wanted to manage everything, down to the smallest detail.

Whenever she got annoyed, Herman would back off a little. Then he would push again, staying right on the line between what she could tolerate and what she absolutely couldn't. He was surprisingly good at knowing exactly how far to go.

The result was that Herman really had started to influence her.

For example, she had never cared about little things like whether a drink had ice in it. But now, when she asked Kaia to make coffee, she would actually pause and think about whether she wanted it iced or not.

For someone who had never paid attention to little things like that, even such a small change was a big deal.

Of course, Blake didn't let Herman stay at her place every day.

Their relationship hadn't even reached the next stage yet, and he already wanted to take over her personal space. That was a little ridiculous.

That was when Herman protested. "One month. I want to stay at your place for two-thirds of it."

Without even thinking, Blake replied, "That's way too much."

"Then half the month. No less than that." At the moment, Herman had her pinned beneath him while discussing it. "Blake, please."

Blake was completely helpless against him at that point, so she agreed.

Later, though, she finally realized what had happened.

Herman had probably wanted half the month from the very beginning.

First, he proposed something she would never accept. Then he backed down a little. On top of that, he picked the perfect moment to bring it up. And just like that, he got what he wanted.

After thinking it through, Blake wasn't upset. She was actually a little shocked.

How had she failed to notice Herman's little tricks?

Step by step, he had been moving things forward, slowly and patiently, like warming water one degree at a time.

For Herman to pull that off, he had to know her extremely well. Otherwise, there was no way he could have handled all those little details so perfectly.

Blake's understanding of Herman was limited to what she knew as a coworker.

Logically, Herman's understanding of her should have been the same.

So why did it feel like she was completely transparent in front of him?

How did he always know when to push forward and when to step back?

Blake realized that Herman was even more unfamiliar to her than she had thought. Everything she knew about him was practically a blank page.
