After all, a guy like Draven could have been taken by anyone, but he’d stayed single for years. The fact that he never caved to temptation meant he really didn’t care about love stuff.

Doesn’t matter. Your safety comes first. Halle finally caught on. “Honestly, you two are a perfect match-you help each other out to get ahead.”

Ayla smiled and nodded, tilting her chin toward the steering wheel. “Come on, drive. Let’s go see Rolf.”

Halle said, “Thanks for helping me out. I’m just lucky to be your friend.”

“No problem. Hey, you’re my best friend, remember that,” Ayla said. She had to admit, she was being a little selfish, too.

If not for Halle, she wouldn’t have cared this much. Rolf’s words alone couldn’t have hurt her.

There were always people in the world who didn’t like her. If she spent all her energy caring about them, she would lose focus on her own goals. Her energy would get drained by their nonsense, and before she knew it, her time would be stolen by things and people that didn’t

matter.

Ayla stayed focused on herself.

She only reacted if someone actually crossed the line.

Take Troy, for example-after the divorce, she never felt bitter or obsessed with payback. Her life was about things that mattered more: her friends, her family, and her own goals.

It wasn’t long before Ayla and Halle got to Conrad’s chosen venue.

It was a private business club, all glitz and luxury

They had been to places like this for work before, so they felt comfortable. The fact that the statue at the entrance was by a world-famous architect said enough about how high-end this place was.

It also showed just how sincere Conrad was.

They had barely stepped out of the car before Conrad himself came to greet them.

“Ms. Kinsman, Ms. Keaton,” Conrad said warmly “Glad you made it. This way, please.”

Conrad was extremely welcoming.

Back when they’d first met at the racetrack, he had seemed like a completely different

person.

Halle nodded, and Conrad caught the cue. Then he turned to Ayla, and only after she nodded. too did he finally relax.

Tonight was supposed to be an apology to Halle but Ayla was Draven’s secretary-the one he trusted most-so Conrad was extra careful not to be disrespectful.

Besides that, Ayla’s calm, distant vibe felt intimidating. She didn’t say much, but there was a clear strength about her that made people hesitate to mess with her.

Between the two, Ayla was definitely the one in charge.

Conrad knew he couldn’t afford to be careless and cross her.

Inside the private dining room, the table was already covered with fancy dishes and a bottle of wine costing over 20,000 dollars.

At that moment, the huge room had only Lisa in it.

Lisa was the CEO of Alvarado Group. She appeared to be around 30 years old, and she gave off a uniquely gentle presence. When Ayla and Halle walked in, she was pouring wine for the table, getting things ready.

When she saw them, she put the bottle down and greeted them right away, “Ms. Kinsman, Ms. Keaton, please make yourselves at home. Tonight is just a casual dinner-no business talk.”

With both guests being women, Lisa was the perfect hostess.

After all, the Alvarado Group was the wealthiest in Trensea. Halle was nowhere near their level, but she knew she was being treated so kindly because of Ayla and Draven. She was totally fine with that.
