Chapter 319 She Likes Me

Melody couldn’t accept those words before, and she still couldn’t now.

Instead, hearing something familiar instantly calmed her down. She sneered. “You keep talking about self- awareness. Then what about Ayla? Does she have any? She’s just a divorced secretary. What gives her the right to stand next to Draven? She has no family background, no status, and she’s not even as talented as me! Where does she get the nerve to cling to you guys?”

Herman frowned. Melody was four years older than Ayla, yet when it came to dealing with people, she was nowhere near Ayla’s level. Her childish thinking honestly left him speechless.

“Want to know why?” Herman said.

Melody lifted her chin, glaring at him. “Then say it!”

“I don’t know what Draven thinks.” Herman adjusted his silver frames glasses. “But I feel relaxed when I’m around Ayla.”

“She insulted me! And you’re still not helping me?”

“Ayla is also my friend. From what I know of her, she wouldn’t say something like that for no reason.” Ayla wasn’t someone who wasted time on pointless arguments.

“You-you-” Melody was so angry that she couldn’t even finish a sentence.

“That’s enough.” Seeing that she refused to budge, Herman didn’t want to argue anymore. He told the driver to leave.

“I want to get out!” Melody shouted.

Herman looked at her.

“I don’t want to sit in the same car as you!”

The driver hesitated, stuck in an awkward spot.

Herman said coolly, “Let her out.”

Melody slammed the door as she got out. Herman’s face grew colder as he told the driver to drive off right

away.

Watching the car leave without even a word of concern made Melody even angrier. She stomped on the ground.

Whenever she was furious, she vented to her friends. Like usual, she dialed her best friend. “Fabiola…”

She started ranting.

The driver still felt uneasy. “Mr. Howell, aren’t you going to step in?”

Herman glanced coldly at the rearview mirror.

That look made the driver’s heart jump, and he immediately shut up.

Herman’s face stayed blank. He’d corrected Melody again and again, and she’d never listened. What else could he do?

He wasn’t like Draven, who could be completely ruthless to Bria.

But if Herman interfered too much, Melody would just run home crying, and the elders would chew him out. It wasn’t worth it.

Still, when it came to Draven, he was sure Melody wouldn’t dare make a scene at home.

Even so, someone still had to clean up the mess.

Herman quickly called Ayla.

Draven was driving again, with Ayla in the passenger seat. She picked up, thinking the call was for him.

“No, I’m calling to apologize,” Herman said, mentioning Melody. “I already scolded her.”

“Mr. Howell, you don’t need to worry. I don’t get along with your sister, and we won’t be friends. That’s fine.”

Herman liked how clear she was. He preferred dealing with smart people. “She’s my sister. If she said or did something wrong, I’m responsible. I owe you an apology.”

Since he put it that way, Ayla accepted it.

After hanging up, she asked in confusion, “I don’t even know Melody, and I’ve never offended her. Why is she so hostile toward me?”

Draven kept his hands steady on the wheel, merged onto the ring road, and said quietly, “Melody likes me.”

Ayla hadn’t expected gossip, but it didn’t surprise her either. Draven was outstanding. There must be many women who liked him.

The calm way he said it made it clear that he felt nothing for Melody.

If he did, he wouldn’t be with Ayla at all.

“I’m pretty sure today was the first time I met her. And even though we’re pretending, no one knows we’re dating yet. So why was she that aggressive toward me?”

“Maybe she’s seen us before,” Draven said.

Ayla thought the same. Melody had called her by name, after all.

Still, Melody’s jealousy was extreme. Even if she’d seen them together once, Ayla and Draven hadn’t done anything intimate in public. Was that enough for her to get jealous and pick a fight?
