The red light turned green, finally giving her a chance to change the subject. Ayla said quietly, “Mr. Storm… the light’s green.”
“Rip-”
Draven suddenly tore off her bandage.
Ayla didn’t even have time to react. Her hand flew up to her neck, eyes wide in shock.
A heartbeat later, he forcefully pulled her hand away. And he saw it-that unmistakable red mark.
A kiss mark.
Draven’s gaze dropped, instantly darkening-black, heavy, bottomless. Before he even registered the impulse, his thumb was already pressing against the bright red mark.
Not gently. Hard. Grinding down like he was crushing a tiny bug beneath his fingertip.
The pad of his thumb was rough, calloused.
The pressure against her skin stung-sharp, itchy, electric.
The gesture was, ironically, incredibly intimate.
But Draven’s brows were drawn together, his face cut sharp as a blade, and the cold in his eyes was frightening-an oppressive, suffocating weight that filled the entire car
All she felt was fear.
For a split second, she genuinely thought that if he wanted to, he could snap her neck with one hand.
Cars behind them kept honking, impatient drivers yelling out their windows, But Draven’s car was a luxury model-nobody dared come up and bang on his window,,
Outside, noisy chaos.
Inside, crushing silence,
Ayla’s mind went completely blank before her rationality came back.
She looked at the man inches from her face-finally realizing something was wrong,
What the hell was he doing?
“Mr. Storm?”
Ayla reminded him, “I’m not feeling well.”
Draven lifted his eyes. Their gazes met-his coldness receded instantly.

He drew his hand back and placed it on the steering wheel.
Foot on the gas, he drove forward.
Ayla frowned at his profile.
His mouth was a hard, thin line, the corners pulled down, his expression unreadable.
He was angry?
She was about to ask, but Draven spoke first. “Ugly. Put the bandage back.”
Even if he hadn’t said it, she would have covered it again.
Once the bandage was back on, her mind finally steadied.

Bria throwing red wine on her-Draven stepping in-Ayla understood now. Yes, partly because she worked under him. But also because Bria was his half sister.
He couldn’t stand her behavior, so he interfered.
As her “brother,” he had the standing to.
He tore off the bandage earlier because he wanted to see whether Troy really laid a hand on her.
If Troy committed domestic violence, Draven would absolutely get involved.
But finding out it was a kiss mark? Awkward.
Ayla understood why he was pissed. He stepped in thinking she’d been hurt, only to run into … that. Anyone would feel like they’d overstepped.
The rest of the drive back to Westhaven’s basement garage was silent. He didn’t say another word.
Out of the car. Into the elevator. Out of the elevator.
They were seconds away from going their separate ways when Ayla suddenly called him.
Draven turned, expression blank.
“Mr. Storm, I know you checked the mark because you were worried Troy hit me. Thank you. You really are a good person. I don’t think you were meddling, so don’t overthink it.”
Draven said nothing.
People in the Storms called him cold-blooded, antisocial, and cursed him to burn in hell.
And this woman dared call him a good person?
This was probably the most absurdly misplaced compliment he’d ever received.

“I’m not a good person.”
He tossed out the words without emotion and walked away, not accepting her gratitude at all.
Ayla was the one left not knowing what to say now.
Yep. That was very, very Draven.

Back home, Ayla washed up and checked the mirror. The mark on her neck was too conspicuous.
She rubbed ointment over it, then returned to her study.
Her original plan was to finalize the divorce certificate first, then inform Martin. But after Troy’s behavior today, she changed her strategy.
The moment Martin returned, she would tell him everything.
Ayla couldn’t restrain Troy when he went mad.
But someone could.
And then there was Bria. Ayla needed to think of a way to make Bria stand on her side.
That wasn’t too hard.
It had been a draining weekend. Ayla worked in the study until midnight before going to bed.
But not everyone slept tonight.
At Dimensia Labs, a meeting was in full swing.
Kaleb and Emmett sat stone-faced, listening to the tech department’s report.
Their database had been hacked.
Large-scale game development required massive amounts of data. Losing data meant their entire system was crippled.
Their firewall-built by a former employee-was solid as iron, with high-level permissions. They never imagined someone could break through.
“Did you find out who did it?” Kaleb asked.
“We’re still checking.”
“Find them before morning!” Emmett was furious. They had finally recovered thanks to Ayla’s 100 million investment-And now they were being hacked again.
“Kaleb, I’m betting it’s our rival.”

“Kaleb, I’m telling you-it’s that competitor. RuneLogic! The company your brother-in-law invested in!”
Kaleb’s cold, sharp gaze turned even darker.
“Say ‘brother-in-law’ one more time-and get out.”

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
