Divorced CEO's Forgotten Wife Strikes Back (Riley and Bryce) novel Chapter 121

**TITLE: Dreams Refuse Gravity by Leo Arden Knox**

**Chapter 121: Don’t Ruin Your Life**

A shiver danced up Wren’s spine, a visceral reaction that sent a wave of dread washing over her as she felt Sebastian’s grip tighten around her throat. The pressure was unyielding, as though his fingers were forged from steel, effectively robbing her of breath and rendering her helpless.

Desperation clawed at her, and she instinctively grasped at his hand, her fingers digging into his skin in a futile attempt to pry him away. But it was as if he were made of stone, immovable and resolute. With each passing second, her lungs screamed for air, and a raw, unfiltered panic surged through her veins.

“What’s the matter? Can’t find your voice now? You seemed to have plenty to say just a moment ago,” Sebastian taunted, his tone icy and devoid of any empathy.

Wren’s heart raced, and though she was turned away from him, she could feel the weight of his gaze boring into her. Deep down, she was acutely aware that she had crossed an invisible line. All she had wanted was to demonstrate to Riley that her connection with Sebastian was something unique, something that Riley could never replicate. She had aimed to highlight the chasm that lay between them, not realizing that Sebastian had been eavesdropping on her words.

“P-please, Sebastian… I never meant to—” Wren gasped, her voice barely a whisper as her cheeks flushed a deep crimson, the struggle for breath making her words stutter and falter.

“You never meant to? Do you really think that your intentions matter now?” His voice was a chilling whisper, each word laced with a sinister calm as he tightened his grip further. “If I’d known you couldn’t keep your mouth shut, I would have cut out your tongue years ago.”

A violent tremor coursed through Wren’s body. The pressure on her neck, combined with the suffocating lack of oxygen, caused her complexion to shift from a furious red to a ghostly white, her tongue lolling out in a desperate bid for air.

Seeing the real danger in Sebastian’s actions, Riley sprang into action, rushing forward to seize his hand. “Let go! She’ll die if you keep this up!” Her voice rang out, filled with urgency and fear.

“I don’t care,” Sebastian replied, his tone flat and devoid of emotion.

A man who had no regard for his own life would certainly not spare a thought for others.

“But I don’t want you to end up in jail!” Riley insisted, her voice rising in desperation. “If you’re really that angry, there are better ways to handle this. If you kill her now, you’ll ruin your own life, even if you get your revenge.”

For a brief moment, a flicker of emotion crossed Sebastian’s otherwise vacant eyes. He turned his head, fixing his gaze on Riley. “You don’t want my life to be ruined?”

“No, I don’t!” Riley retorted firmly, her resolve unshakeable. She reached out, clasping the hand that was gripping Wren. “So, let go right now!”

Her voice held such authority that it was nearly impossible to resist.

At last, Sebastian’s fingers began to loosen their grip, and Wren’s legs buckled beneath her. She collapsed onto the ground, gasping for the precious air that had been denied to her.

“Get out!” Sebastian spat, his voice dripping with disdain.

Wren struggled to her feet, her hair disheveled and her expression one of fury as she glared at Riley. “Don’t think I’ll thank you, Riley! If it weren’t for you, Sebastian wouldn’t have done this to me!”

Riley stepped forward, grabbing Wren by the shoulders and forcefully guiding her toward the entrance of the villa. “What are you doing? Get your hands off me!” Wren protested, thrashing against Riley’s grip.

Without uttering a word, Riley pushed her out the door, sending her sprawling onto the pavement, her dignity shattered.

Riley looked down at her, her expression unyielding. “Get it straight. I did that for Sebastian, not for you. It’s not worth it for him to end up in jail because of someone like you.”

“You—” Wren began, her anger flaring.

“And another thing,” Riley interrupted, her voice sharp, “what right do you have to discuss Sebastian’s personal matters like that? His past is not your playground for gossip!”
