**TITLE: Dreams Refuse Gravity by Leo Arden Knox**
**Chapter 154: The Truth Coming Out?**
What on earth?! He was delving into the incident that had transpired eight years ago?
All this time, he had insisted that he believed her, that he understood her side of the story. But now, it appeared he was conducting his own investigation, sneaking around behind her back.
So, what did that mean? He didn’t truly trust her. Not really.
The thought sent a chill down her spine. If Bryce uncovered the truth—that it was Riley who had saved him all those years ago—everything she had worked for would come crashing down.
She would lose him. And with him, she would lose everything: the coveted position as the CEO’s wife, the power, the influence.
Bryce was her best shot at a stable future. She couldn’t allow him to discover the truth.
Panic bubbled within her, and before she knew it, Bella found herself collapsing to the ground, a sharp cry escaping her lips. “Ah!”
Bryce, who had been on the phone, hung up in an instant and rushed back into room 1:09. His heart raced as he entered, only to find Bella sprawled on the floor, her face contorted in pain.
“What happened?” he asked, his voice laced with concern as he hurried to her side, kneeling beside her.
“I got up too quickly after you left, and everything went dizzy,” Bella explained, wincing as she tried to move. “Bryce, my ankle… it really hurts. Can you carry me back to bed?”
Without hesitation, Bryce scooped her up effortlessly and laid her gently back on the mattress. “Just stay put. I’ll grab you some water. It’ll help,” he said, his tone soothing.
As he turned to leave, Bella’s arms suddenly wrapped around his neck, pulling him back.
“Please, don’t go,” she whispered, her voice almost breaking.
Bryce froze in place, his eyes widening as he took in her expression. Her lips were pressed tightly together, and there was a flicker of anxious vulnerability in her gaze that he had never seen before.
This wasn’t the Bella he had come to know. She was usually so strong, so fiercely independent. But in that moment, she appeared fragile. Afraid.
“I’m just going to get you some water. I’ll be right back, I promise,” he said gently, trying to reassure her.
Before he could step away, Bella leaned in, capturing his lips with hers.
He was taken aback, his body going rigid as the kiss unfolded.
Although they had been living together in her Carmel home for some time, they had never crossed that line. Bella had made a few tentative advances in the past, but he had always held back.
Every time they edged closer, Riley’s face would invade his thoughts, uninvited and persistent.
Why did she still haunt him?
