**Dreams Refuse Gravity by Leo Arden Knox**
**Chapter 155: Anytime**
**Lucky Draw**
As dawn broke the following day, Riley caught sight of Sebastian, and her heart sank a little. He didn’t seem to be at his best.
“Didn’t sleep well?” she inquired, her brow furrowing with concern.
“Not really,” he replied, his voice low and weary.
The previous night had been a restless one for him, his mind trapped in a loop, replaying the kiss she had given him. The warmth of her lips lingered on his skin, igniting a fire within him that no amount of cold showers could extinguish. He had even found himself rising in the middle of the night, desperate to cool the heat that coursed through him, but it had done little to quell the memories.
“You can catch a nap in the car later,” she suggested, her tone gentle yet practical.
They were en route to the Torres Group’s branch in Carmel, a drive that would take them roughly thirty minutes. The thought of the journey ahead was both a relief and a burden for Sebastian; he needed rest, but the prospect of being alone with Riley was intoxicating.
“Okay,” he responded, his voice barely above a whisper, as he surrendered to her suggestion.
Nearby, Felix observed the scene unfold, his expression shifting from one of shock to a peculiar numbness. It was astounding to him how the same Sebastian who commanded respect and instilled awe in others could so easily transform into a bashful, eager puppy in Riley’s presence.

**Lucky Draw**
But the most astonishing revelation had come just days ago when Felix discovered that Sebastian and Riley were officially dating. The realization had hit him like a physical blow, a moment etched into his memory with brutal clarity. Now, nothing these two did could surprise him anymore; he had become a reluctant witness to their burgeoning romance.
After they finished breakfast, Sebastian and Riley slid into the car, the atmosphere thick with unspoken words.
“Sleep a bit,” Riley encouraged, her voice soft and inviting.
“Can I lean on you?” Sebastian asked, his eyes searching hers with an earnestness that made her heart flutter.
“Sure,” she replied, a smile breaking across her face.
As he leaned in, Sebastian hesitated, his head hovering just above her shoulder. Instead of resting, he lifted his gaze, locking his eyes onto hers with an intensity that made her breath catch.
“What is it?” Riley asked, her brow furrowing in confusion.
“You… don’t want to kiss me?” His question hung in the air, his cool voice reverberating within the confines of the car.
But she never anticipated her relationship with Sebastian would evolve into something so profound.
What would happen when they returned to Washington? Would their connection survive the distance?
Time seemed to slip away, and soon enough, they arrived at the Torres Group’s Carmel branch.
The car glided into the underground garage, and just as Riley prepared to rouse Sebastian from his slumber, the vehicle jolted to an abrupt stop, followed by a loud thud that echoed ominously in the confined space.
Riley’s heart raced, her body tensing instinctively. Sebastian’s eyes flew open, alert and focused.
“We scraped another car. I’ll go check,” Felix announced, stepping out of the car.
Riley peered through the windshield, her gaze landing on a white sedan that had clipped the front of their vehicle. A woman emerged from the car, her demeanor calm but her intentions unclear.
Felix approached her, and they began to converse. At first, Riley thought it was merely a minor fender bender, but then she noticed something was off about Felix. His back was to her, obscuring his expression, but his body suddenly stiffened, a subtle shift that sent alarm bells ringing in her mind.
Before she could process the implications, Felix collapsed to the ground, and the woman raised a compact handgun, aiming it directly at them.
“Get down!” Riley screamed, yanking Sebastian down by the shoulder with a force born of instinct.
Gunshots erupted immediately, the sound of bullets tearing through the air with ruthless speed and precision, shattering the fragile moment they had just shared.
