Chapter 254 Break Up With Him

Just as Lara turned to leave, Shawn’s voice cut through the air.

“I don’t care who your boyfriend is. Break up with him. Get back together with me.”

Lara let out a low, amused laugh. “Not happening.”

“Why not?” His fingers twitched around the cigarette, nearly dropping it.

“Because I like my boyfriend,” she said evenly. “And honestly, Mr. Morris, don’t you think you’re a little full of yourself?

“Who do you think you are? I don’t go back to my exes -and I’ve got way better options now than recycling old news like you.”

In other words, he was staying in the past, for good.

Quite a few people were speculating about what was happening between Shawn and Lara.

“Shawn came looking for you last night?” Riley asked. She had missed the whole scene because Sebastian had been pestering her, so she hadn’t reached the bar.

“Yeah,” Lara said.

“What did he want?”

“Said he wanted to get back together.”

Riley froze for a moment. “And what did you tell him?”

“Of course I turned him down. I’m just not interested in him anymore,” Lara said with a light smile.

“Whatever you decide, I’ve got your back. If there’s any trouble, just tell me and I’ll handle it,” Riley said.

“Come on, Shawn’s not the type to keep pestering. He’s too proud for that. After I rejected him like this, he probably won’t show his face around me again,” Lara

replied.

Riley froze.

Lara frowned. “What’s he want with you? Don’t tell me he’s here to beg for his mother and sister. The court date is just a week away.”

“No idea, but whatever it is, it’s got nothing to do with me.” Riley turned to the secretary. “Tell him I’m too busy to see him.”

But when it was time to leave work, Bryce cornered Riley at the company entrance.

“Riley, can we talk?” he asked.

“I don’t think we have anything to talk about,” Riley said.

“How can you say that? I know I let you down. I shouldn’t have divorced you. I’ve been regretting it every single day!” Bryce’s gaze bore into hers intensely.

“I finally realized my feelings for you run deeper than I ever imagined. Can we get back together?“”

Lara beside them was furious enough to curse, “Bryce, what gives you the right to ask Riley for remarriage?”

“This is between Riley and me–don’t you think you’re overstepping?” Bryce snapped back.

Riley’s voice turned ice–cold, “Lara’s thoughts are my thoughts. After everything that’s happened, what makes you think you have any right to ask me to remarry you?”

“I know you still have feelings for me, and I’ve finally realized that you’re the one I truly love, Riley–I love you! This time I’ll treat you right, I swear I won’t hurt you again!” Bryce declared with what he thought was passion.

But his deep emotion only struck Riley as pathetic and laughable.

“Bryce, when you promised to marry me years ago, you swore you’d never hurt me too. And what happened after that? What did you actually do? You think I’d be stupid enough to believe that bullshit a second time?”

“That was because Bella lied to me—I had no idea you were my real savior,” Bryce explained.

“Too bad I don’t give a damn whether you’ll let me down or not. Bryce, you can either get the hell out, stay here and let me beat the crap out of you, or I’ll call the cops and report you for harassment. Your choice,” Riley said, her voice deadly calm.

Bryce stared at her in shock. “Riley, I don’t believe it–I don’t believe you feel absolutely nothing for me!”
