Chapter 320 Not Dying Anytime
Soon
Riley had no answer for that.
“Alright, you rest up. I need to go over to the military headquarters and report the DNA results and the fact that we found Samuel. I’ll come back once I’m done,” Vince said.
Riley nodded. The military had been searching for Samuel too, so now that they’d found him, they needed to know.
Vince left the hospital room with the DNA report in hand, and suddenly the space felt way too empty.
Riley lay in bed and pulled out her phone to start booking her visa appointment. Over the next few days, she needed to recover as fast as possible, and once the visa for Russia came through, she’d head there right away.

Meanwhile, Thomas Monroe–the Torres family’s personal physician–sat across from Sebastian and shook his head. “Your insomnia is mostly psychological. You need to see a therapist, not keep upping your medication. At this rate, you’re going to overdose one of these days.”

Sebastian kept his eyes down, fingers absently working on his black leather cuff. “As long as Riley isn’t back with me, my psychological problems aren’t going away.”
“She’s just one woman. If you really wanted to, you could have your pick of anyone. You’d find someone who fits what you’re looking for.” Thomas tried to sound reasonable.
“Fits what I’m looking for?” Sebastian let out a bitter laugh. “I’ve been searching for years, and I only ever found her.”
And there would never be anyone else.
“You’re just trapping yourself in this relationship, Sebastian. Look, we’ve known each other for years, so I’ll be honest. You need to let this go.” Thomas leaned forward.
Sebastian’s voice stayed flat. “Your father told my father the same thing about my mother back in the day. Did that work out?”
Thomas froze.
The Monroes had been the Torres family’s private doctors for generations, and his father had been friends with Sebastian’s father, Gregory.
Of course he’d tried to talk him out of it. But it hadn’t done any good. Gregory had forced the marriage anyway, and it ended in 2/6

tragedy. Thomas‘ father had felt guilty about it ever since.
“But didn’t you swear you’d never become like your father?” Thomas pressed. “If that’s true, then you need to let Riley go.”
“Yeah, I won’t become like my father. That’s why I’m not going to use dirty tactics to get Riley back.” Sebastian’s voice dropped to almost a murmur. He wanted her to come back willingly. He wanted things to be like they were before, warm and good.
“So you’re just going to keep obsessing over this?” Thomas asked.
“I didn’t come here to talk about whether I’m obsessing. Just switch my meds. These aren’t working anymore.” Sebastian tossed the pill bottle to Thomas.
“I can switch them, but you better not mess around with the dosage. Whatever happens, follow the prescription.” Thomas caught the bottle, his tone stern.
He really was worried Sebastian would accidentally kill himself with these pills one day.
“Relax, I’m not dying anytime soon.” Sebastian’s mouth curved slightly.
Because Riley was still alive. And as long as she was, he
couldn’t bear to die!

A week later, Riley finally got discharged from the hospital.
Her shoulder was still healing, so she couldn’t move her left arm much, but it didn’t really interfere with daily life.
Sebastian hadn’t come to visit once during that whole week.
Riley felt odd about it–relieved, sure, but also kind of disappointed.
The disappointment probably meant she hadn’t completely gotten over her feelings for Sebastian yet.
Maybe in a little while, she’d be fine. That was what she told herself anyway.
Vince and Lara came to pick her up when she was discharged. The whole drive back, Vince kept going over everything Lara needed to know about taking care of Riley, and after they got to Lara’s place, he didn’t leave until it was already dark out.
“Looks like Vince really cares about you,” Lara said. “You sure you don’t want to reconsider?”
“I already told you, I’m not interested in dating anyone right now. The most important thing for me is finding Samuel and

bringing him home.” Riley shook her head.
She knew now that Zane was Samuel, but she still hadn’t gotten him back to their country yet.
“So when are you planning to go to Russia to find your brother?” Lara asked.
“In a couple of days once my visa comes through,” Riley said. “Then I’m heading out.”
“What? That fast?” Lara looked worried. “But your injuries—”
“I’m fine now. I just want to see Samuel as soon as possible.” And she wanted to figure out why Samuel was staying with the Lincoln family.
“Does Vince know?” Lara asked.
“I haven’t told him yet, and you don’t either.” Riley didn’t want Vince to insist on coming with her to Russia.
Before she’d known how he felt about her, it wouldn’t have bothered her. But now that she knew, every time he helped her, it just felt like she was adding to some debt she could never
repay.
“Okay.” Lara nodded, then changed the subject. “By the way, what’s going on with you and Sebastian? You’ve been in the 5/6

hospital all week and he hasn’t come by once.”

“We broke up, remember? Why would he visit?” Riley said.
“I guess that makes sense.” Lara muttered, “I just thought maybe when he chartered that plane to get you back home, it meant he still had feelings for you and wasn’t ready to let go.”
