Chapter 321 I Don’t Hate You

“Sebastian probably just helped out because I’m his ex–girlfriend,” Riley said. She didn’t think there was anything left between them.

But two days later, Riley’s visa still hadn’t come through. It was being held up. They said there were some issues.

When she went to ask what the problem was, the staff kept dodging the question and giving her the runaround. Finally, when she pushed them hard enough, they admitted it was coming from higher up.

Riley was confused.

Higher up? Someone in a position of power doesn’t want me going to Russia? What’s going on?

As she left the visa office, a black sedan pulled up in front of her and Felix stepped out. “Ms. Anderson, Mr. Torres would like to see you,” he said.

“There’s no reason for us to meet,” Riley said. They’d broken up, so it was better to avoid each other. That was the only way she’d be able to move on.

“If you want your visa to go through, you should really meet with Mr. Torres,” Felix said.

She pressed her lips together and got in the car without another word.

The car drove to the apartment building where she and Sebastian used to live together.

“Ms. Anderson, Mr. Torres is waiting for you in the apartment,” Felix said.

Riley got out and walked straight to the elevator, then rode up to the apartment. Standing in front of the familiar door made her feel strange, like she was in a dream.

She pressed the doorbell, but no one came to answer.

Is Sebastian not inside? But Felix brought me here, so…

Riley reached out and entered the old password into the keypad.

It unlocked with a beep—he hadn’t even changed the code.

completely silent. When she reached the living room, she saw Sebastian sitting on the couch with a coffee set laid out on the table in front of him. He was brewing coffee, and the smell filled the air.

Riley walked up to him. “My visa, you’re the one blocking it, aren’t you?”

“Yeah.” Sebastian didn’t even hesitate.

Riley’s eyes narrowed. “Why would you do that?”

“You’re injured. You shouldn’t be flying to Russia right now.”

“That’s not your call to make,” Riley shot back. “I know my own injuries, and the airline cleared me to fly.”

“I want you to heal completely before you go to Russia.” Sebastian paused. “Or if you really need to see Zane, I can have someone bring him here—”

“Sebastian!” Riley cut him off. “We have broken up. You don’t need to do these things for me, and I need you to stop interfering in my life.”

His hand froze over the coffee he was making. After a long moment, he continued preparing it. “What if I insist you heal completely before going?”

He finished the coffee and held out the cup to her. “Try it. See if you like it.”

“I didn’t come here to drink coffee with you.”

“If you drink it, I’ll let your visa go through,” he said. “Or do you hate me so much you won’t even have one cup of coffee

with me?

Riley grabbed the cup and chugged it down. “I don’t hate you.”

“I hope you still feel that way in a minute,” he murmured under his breath.

“What?” Suddenly everything started spinning. She stumbled, her body tipping sideways.

Sebastian’s arm caught her waist, and she collapsed against

him.

Lara didn’t realize Riley was missing until evening. When Riley didn’t come home, Lara tried calling her, but no one answered.

She immediately called Vince, “Do you know where Riley is?”

“What happened?” Vince asked.

“I can’t reach her, and she didn’t come home.”

There was silence on the other end for a moment. Then Vince said, “I’ll find her.”

“Okay.” With Vince’s resources, he’d be able to track Riley down.

An hour later, Lara met up with Vince at the police station. Shawn was there too.

“You said on the phone that Sebastian took Riley. What happened?” Lara asked urgently.
