Chapter 377 Realizations
Since Sebastian wouldn’t regret it then she wouldn’t either.
“Sebastian, we’ll survive!” She said firmly.

He was somewhat shaken. She was still the same–no matter how dire things got, even staring death in the face, she stayed optimistic.
Like she carried hope in her bones, refusing to let it die.
They were going to make it out of this… right?
Just then, the sound of hurried footsteps suddenly arose.
Following that, someone shouted, “Over here! I found them!”
Riley saw several figures rushing towards them—firefighters, and… Samuel.
The firefighters rushed forward, supporting Sebastian and taking Cynthia from Riley’s shoulder.
The weight on her suddenly gone, Riley staggered forward, nearly falling.
The next moment, she was held by a pair of arms.
It was him. Her brother.
“You’re safe now. I’ve got you.” Zane said, looking at Riley with 5 heartache, his voice choked.

Seeing her leg dragging, supporting Sebastian, carrying, Cynthia on her back, limping step by agonizing step through the flames–relief and anguish hit him like a punch to the gut.
Thank God she was alive.
But the pain she’d endured… it destroyed him.
And knowing she’d refused to abandon Cynthia even when death was breathing down her neck? That gutted him most of all.
He knew exactly why. She’d done it for him.
“I’m sorry I was late, Riley,” Zane said, scooping Riley up into his arms.
Riley sagged against Zane, her eyes tracking Sebastian as the firefighters carried him out.
Sebastian… he was safe. Thank God.
And right now, wrapped in Samuel’s arms, she felt… protected.
Whole.
Samuel hadn’t gotten his memories back–not even close. But he’d still charged into a goddamn inferno to save her.
Proof that it didn’t matter if he remembered or not.
Samuel was her brother. Always had been, always would be.
That blood bond? Nothing could break it.

An overwhelming sense of exhaustion and pain bordering on numbness made Riley gradually slip into unconsciousness.
The last thing she heard was Samuel’s anxious shouts.
Riley felt as if she had a very long dream.
In the dream, people kept coming to her side, saying something. to her.
But she couldn’t hear clearly what they were saying.
Footsteps sounded by her ear again.
Who is it this time?
She struggled to open her eyes, but her eyelids felt so heavy.
“I’m sorry. It’s my fault,” a familiar voice sounded.
This time, she finally heard it clearly. It was Sebastian’s voice.
“If it weren’t for me, none of this would’ve happened to you. Maybe… we should’ve never met. Maybe I was always meant to be alone.”
Sebastian stared at Riley’s unconscious form, his voice barely a
whisper.
She looked so still. Pale. Fragile. Just like when she’d been shot in Germany.

over him again.
And once again, it was because of him.

“Riley, I used to hate it. Hate that you wouldn’t forgive me, hate how goddamn stubborn you were One mistake, and you made me pay for it forever. I hated that your love was so… shallow.” His voice cracked. “But now I get it. What I hate most… is myself.”
His very existence was a mistake. Everyone he loved ended up broken.
His voice flowed into Riley’s ears.
She wanted to open her eyes, to tell him not to hate himself.
There was so much she needed to say, but her eyelids felt like lead, impossible to lift.
“Thank you for saving me,” Sebastian said, his voice hoarse, his fingers gently touching Riley’s pale cheek.
All those years ago, when she was just a kid, she’d saved him.
She’d given him a reason to keep breathing.
“You once wished for me to be safe. Now I wish the same for you. As long as you’re alive and well… nothing else matters.” His voice cracked with bitter resignation. “I told you once I’d give you anything you wanted. So whatever you want—it’s yours.”
Sébastian stared down at her, slowly leaning in to kiss ner

But just as his lips were about to touch her forehead, he stopped,
I have to stop. Every touch makes it worse. The more I keep doing this… the harder it’ll be to let go.
His lips parted, the words barely whisper. “Riley, I don’t regret loving you.”
With that, he straightened and walked toward the door, never noticing Riley’s eyes had cracked open.
