Chapter 379 I Am Your Uncle
If not for considering Riley’s current physical weakness and injuries, Lara would have probably already rushed over and hugged Riley tightly.
“Sorry for worrying you,” Riley said. “And Cynthia? How is she?”
“She’s fine. She woke up two hours after being rescued from the fire. However, she tried to sneak away at that time, and I stopped her,” Zane said. “The firefighters found a gun at the scene with evidence of having been fired and Cynthia’s fingerprints on it. So she’s currently being held at the police station.”
Riley was taken aback, not realizing so much had happened while she was unconscious.
“Riley, during the fire, how did you end up with Cynthia? Did she pull the gun to kill you?” Zane asked.
Although Cynthia refused to say anything to the police, based on the existing evidence, he could roughly piece together some of what happened.
“Yes, she wanted to kill me,” Riley said.
Because the blisters in her throat hadn’t fully subsided, speaking caused her throat pain each time.
Riley briefly summarized the situation at the time.

wants to kill you? That’s utterly absurd!”
Riley also found it absurd.
Her conflict with Cynthia had never reached the point of a life–or–death struggle.

“That’s because Cynthia found out your identity,” Zane said.
Riley was stunned and looked at Samuel.
Zane slowly explained, “Because she was afraid our uncle would recognize you through the ruby necklace. So she wanted to kill you, to take the ruby necklace, so our uncle would never know you are his niece.”
Only then did Riley suddenly remember the uncle Samuel mentioned.
She had just woken up, her mind still a bit foggy, and had been mainly thinking about Sebastian and Cynthia earlier.
“Uncle… Who is he? Where is he?” she asked nervously.
“Benedict. The head of the Lincoln family. You’ve met him. He is our mother’s older brother, also… our uncle,” Zane said.
Riley’s pupils contracted sharply, her face full of disbelief.
Lara, who had learned about this while Riley was unconscious, showed no surprise now.
Ꮎ ver the past two days, she had personally seen Benedict come

Riley’s bedside, more than once, with tears in his eyes, choked with emotion, his face full of guilt constantly apologizing.
This also shocked Lara. She had never imagined the cold, ruthless business magnate from the news could have such a side.
“He is our uncle?” Riley asked in astonishment.
“Yes, I am your uncle,” the one who answered was not Zane, but Benedict, who had pushed the door open and entered.
Riley watched Benedict walk towards her, and her brother standing just two steps behind him.
Those two similar faces only differed in age.
Before, she had even wondered if Samuel would look like Benedict when he grew old.
She had originally thought it was just a case of similar looks in a big world.
But if Benedict really is their uncle, then this resemblance is because of blood relation.
“You… you’re finally awake!” Benedict looked at Riley, his emotions mixed.
He had rushed over as soon as he received Zane’s call.
That day, he had fainted at the scene. When he woke up, he saw Riley lying in a hospital bed, unconscious and pale.

And that ruby necklace he had searched for over fifty years was quietly placed on the bedside table in the room. His face was covered in tears.
Fifty years.
They’d finally found Bianca. Found her children.
But Bianca was gone. She’d left this world.
These two kids–they were all that remained of her. The
Lincolns‘ most precious gift. Like God had finally taken pity on them after all this time.
After confirming Riley’s life was not in danger, he went to Martyrs‘ Cemetery and spent an entire day there with Bianca, sitting from dawn till dusk.
He simply sat quietly before the tombstone, carefully going through the information he had gathered about Bianca’s life experiences.
He turned the pages one by one, reading every word, learning what kind of life Bianca had lived after being separated from her
family.
Fortunately, her adoptive parents treated Bianca extremely well, and Dominic was a good husband

In front of the tombstone, by the time he finished reading, he was sobbing uncontrollably.
The papers filled with the account of Bianca’s life were stained with tears.
He had too many regrets. Regret for not finding Bianca sooner. Regret for not fulfilling his duty as an older brother. Regret that their connection had been so brief, lasting only three short
years.
