Chapter 380 Uncle Benedict
“I’m sorry! Bianca, I’m sorry. I was too foolish, taking so long to find you. I shouldn’t have let go of your hand…”
He knelt before the tombstone, weeping uncontrollably.
“Your children, from now on, are also my children. I will treat them as my own, using everything I have to protect them and ensure their safety for the rest of their lives!”
From this day forward, those two children would be his life.
In the hospital room, Benedict, his eyes brimming with tears, walked to Riley’s bedside.
“Riley, I am your uncle. Your mother, Bianca’s older brother. I’m sorry, it was all my fault before, making you and Zane suffer. I won’t let that happen again.”
Riley stared at Benedict, dazed.
He was full of self–blame and guilt.
There was love and care in him too–completely different from the cold, arrogant man she’d seen before. The man who had even ordered his subordinates to use force against her.
This is… my uncle?

“I know I treated you poorly before. I even almost hurt you,” Benedict murmured. “Your mother got lost because of me. I didn’t hold her hand tightly enough, and I didn’t watch her carefully. If you don’t want to acknowledge our relationship, that’s okay too.
“In the future, whenever you need help, the Lincoln family will assist you with all our strength.
“I ask for nothing else, only that you and your brother can be safe and sound. Your mother can no longer watch over you, but
from now on, I will protect you!”
Benedict’s voice clearly flowed into Riley’s ears.
Benedict was clearly a shrewd, domineering business magnate, feared and respected by many, never to be underestimated. But now, he had shed all his haughty airs.
He was just a pained, self–blaming old man, immersed in the grief of the past.
“Uncle Benedict,” Riley moved her lips and slowly called out.
Benedict’s body jolted. He stared wide–eyed at Riley, seemingly unable to believe what he had just heard.
His mouth opened slightly as if he wanted to ask something, huhe was afraid that asking would reveal it was just his own:15

“Uncle Benedict.”
Only after hearing Riley’s call a second time did Benedict finally snap back to reality. His eyes grew even more moist.
“I’m here! It’s so wonderful that you’re willing to accept me… You’re willing to… That’s wonderful,” Benedict choked out.
Even though speaking caused her throat pain, Riley continued, “I have always been grateful to you, grateful that the Lincoln family saved Samuel in Germany. Samuel hasn’t had a bad life in your family these past few years. Also, you’ve been looking for Mother all this time. If Mother were still alive, knowing her family has been searching for her all along, she would be so happy. So how could I not accept you?”
Benedict’s tears couldn’t stop falling.
“I only hope Bianca doesn’t resent me.”
“She won’t.” Zane stepped forward. “Mom won’t resent you!”
It took Benedict a while to calm his emotions.
Lara, who had been in the room earlier, had already quietly left the room, not wanting to disturb the family reunion.
Because Riley’s throat still hurt, mostly Benedict and Zane did thestalking, with Riley mostly just listening.

announce your identities. As for the matter of claiming you as my illegitimate son, I will come up with a reasonable explanation to smooth it over. In the future, you and Riley can live in Russia or the United States as you wish. Whatever you do, the Lincoln family will be your backing.”
“Thank you,” Samuel said.
Because she had just woken up, by this point in the conversation, Riley was showing signs of fatigue.
Seeing this, Benedict said, “Riley, you rest now. I’ll come back when you wake up again.”
After Benedict left, Samuel said, “Sleep. I’ll be right here watching over you.”
“Lend me your phone. I… want to make a call,” Riley said.
Her own phone was probably burnt to a crisp in the fire scene.
Samuel handed his phone to Riley. “Who do you want to call?”
“Sebastian,” she said, entering Sebastian’s private mobile number.
But no one answered.

Felix’s voice came through the phone. “Ms. Anderson.”
“I can’t get through to Sebastian’s phone. Can you let me contact him?” Riley got straight to the point.
“Mr. Torres is currently recuperating from his injuries. I’m afraid he is not in a position to take your call. If you have any message to pass along, I can relay it for you,” Felix said.
