Divorced CEO's Forgotten Wife Strikes Back (Riley and Bryce) novel Chapter 393

Chapter 393 She Kissed Him

If she had come out even a few seconds later, would he have just swallowed all of that?

And how often had he been doing this when she wasn't around?

The amount he'd had in his hand was more than she'd ever seen him take before.

"It's not dangerous. I know my body," he said. His tolerance was high enough that the pills barely worked on him anymore. "And don't worry. They won't affect the stem cell donation. I can still go through with it."

"I don't care about the donation!" Riley grabbed his collar and yanked him down so they were eye to eye. "Sebastian, if you keep taking pills like this, I swear I won't let it go."

He lowered his gaze, refusing to meet hers. "These are the Torres family's newest formula. Hardly any side effects. You don't need to worry."

"What if I want to worry?" Riley shot back. "And if it's a new formula, how do you know taking so many won't cause long-term problems?"

His eyelashes trembled. Her concern stirred something in him—something he'd been trying to bury.

But reason told him not to hope for things he couldn't have.

He looked away. "Then I'll have Thomas switch me back to the old medication."

"No more pills," Riley said. "I'll stay with you when you fall asleep from now on."

He gave a small, humorless laugh, almost like he was mocking himself. "Stay with me? For how long? A day, two days? A year? Two? I don't need that."

Because once you had something, losing it became even more terrifying.

"Why can't it be forever?" Riley stepped in and pressed her lips to his.

His entire body went rigid. His eyes widened slightly, shocked by how sudden she was.

She kissed him like she was pouring every bit of her bottled-up feelings into him.

But it still wasn't enough—not deep enough, not fierce enough to show him how much she loved him.

"Hey," she whispered against his lips, her breath warm on his skin. "Open your mouth."

His lips stayed pressed together, and he stared at her with those unreadable eyes.

His mind screamed at him to pull away.

If he didn't, he knew exactly what would happen—he'd fall, piece by piece, until he couldn't think straight anymore.

But even as his mind told him to stop, his body listened to her instead. His lips parted slowly, letting her deepen the kiss again and again, as if he had no defenses left.

It felt like rain falling on parched ground—relief after a long, aching drought, the kind of comfort he craved without even realizing it.
