Chapter 399 Wear Him Down in Bed
As Riley rode the elevator down, she spotted Felix waiting in the lobby.
Thomas was standing beside him.
The moment Felix saw her, he hurried over. "Ms. Anderson, Mr. Torres told me that if you don't have anyone picking you up, I'm to drive you wherever you'd like to go."
"Where is Sebastian now?" Riley asked.
"He should've already headed back to the hotel," Felix replied.
"Alright. Take me there too," Riley said.
Thomas walked over, raising an eyebrow. "So? You still haven't sorted things out with him? He hasn't agreed to get back together with you?"
"He told you that?" Riley asked.
"How else would I know?" Thomas said, looking completely put out. "Seriously, can't you be a little more aggressive? He's spiraling. If you have no idea what you're doing, do you want me to teach you?"
Riley blinked. "Teach me what?"
Thomas chuckled, "What I mean is, tire him out so he can't overthink everything. If you want Sebastian to stop worrying, the quickest way is to wear him down in bed. Win the body first, and the heart will follow."
Riley rolled her eyes. If she hadn't looked him up beforehand and confirmed he was a well-known doctor, she might've honestly mistaken him for some sleazy street thug.
She said, "Did you forget you were the one who told me this morning not to do that?"
"How was I supposed to know you'd be this useless? An entire night and he still hasn't said yes?" Thomas scoffed. "Anyway, just be careful and don't tear open any wounds. And if you need any medication, just ask me. I can get it for you."
"Medication?" Riley blinked. "Actually, I do need something."
Felix stiffened.
This did not feel like something he should be hearing.
After Riley got what she needed from Thomas, Felix drove her back to the hotel.
On the way, he asked cautiously, "Ms. Anderson, Mr. Torres isn't fully recovered yet. He might not handle being given medication. Maybe wait a few days?"
Riley stared at him. Oh. So that was what he thought the "medicine" was for.
"Relax. I just asked for the ointment Sebastian needs for his bandages," she said.
Starting tomorrow, she planned to take over his wound care herself.
Felix finally exhaled.
"By the way," Riley asked, "does Sebastian still have nightmares a lot?"
When she'd been his bodyguard, she had seen him wake from nightmares. But after they started dating, they seemed to stop.
Felix nodded. "Ever since you two broke up, he barely sleeps. And when he does, nightmares wake him up. Ms. Anderson, after you left, he really wasn't doing well. Please don't leave him again."
After Riley slipped off her shoes, Sebastian placed a pair of slippers in front of her.
"I'm going to the bedroom first," Riley said as she put them on. "When you're done with the meeting, come find me." Supporting herself on the crutches, she headed inside.
Sebastian watched her walk away.
She had said it so naturally as if they had never broken up at all.
Almost without thinking, his fingers brushed the black leather cuff at his wrist, squeezing it lightly.
She had always been able to mess with his head like this.
He had told himself over and over not to want anything from her anymore.
But the moment she opened the door and walked into the hotel room, his heart had lifted.
God.
What was he even excited about? Excited because she came back to him?
Pathetic. He loved her so much it was humiliating. Worse—he couldn't even tone it down.

Riley sat on the sofa in the bedroom, thinking about everything—Sebastian's attitude since last night, and what Thomas had told her earlier in the hospital lobby.
